Hockey Schools and Camps Keep Centre Ice Arena
Busy
During Summer Months
It's been a busy summer at Centre Ice Arena thanks in part to hockey schools and camps that take place during the months of July and August. Centre Ice is proud to host these events - thanks to all organizers, coaches, participants and parents! For a list of both past and upcoming camps and schools,

Aside from those hockey schools, two other recent camps at Centre Ice were graced with the presence of some pretty impressive V.I.P's. During the recent Grand Traverse Hockey Association Lady North Stars 3-day hockey boot camp, three big names - NHL All-Star Game MVP John Scott, former Detroit Red Wings player and Stanley Cup champion Dallas Drake and Lake Superior State Athletic Hall-of-Fame inductee and former NHL player Mike Matteucci - all took to the ice to offer instruction and coaching. Delaney Drake - soon-to-be Wisconsin Badger - joined her dad Dallas on the ice, along with Syracuse University Defenseman Dakota Derrer, to offer additional training and insight to the girls attending boot camp. Check out the photos of this incredible experience!

The next group of players to benefit from the expertise of an NHL player were the TC North Stars during their main tryout camp. Steve Oleksy, former North Stars captain and 2016 Stanley Cup champion, returned to TC and helped out during camp. Here's a camp recap from North Stars' Director of Communications Matt Mackinder:
Prospective players and returning veterans converged on Centre Ice Arena from Aug. 5-6 for the Traverse City North Stars main tryout camp. The North Stars (formerly the Hounds) are entering their second season in the United States Premier Hockey League and finished second in the USPHL's Midwest Division last season. Head coach Jacek Wilk ran the camp and was assisted by former North Stars captain (2005-06) and 2016 Stanley Cup champion Steve Oleksy, who was in town to check out his old stomping grounds. Wilk and North Stars GM Scott Gardiner signed several players at the camp and the club looks to have another strong team for the 2016-17 season, which starts in mid-September. For more info, check out www.tcnorthstars.com, like the team on Facebook and follow on Twitter.
