On Monday, June 20, 2016, CBA celebrated its 20th anniversary surrounded by the community of stewards who have joined in its mission over the years to sustain healthy local waterways throughout the Choctawhatchee watershed. Grantors, Sponsors, Donors, Partners, Volunteers, and friends of CBA gathered at Nick's Seafood Restaurant in Freeport, FL to celebrate this milestone anniversary, and to honor those who have brought CBA's mission to the place that it is today. CBA also surprised its guests by unveiling a 20th anniversary logo (pictured left) to commemorate the dedication and support from its generous community of stewards over the years! CBA would like to thank 30A Coastal Dunes Wine Company for their generous support for our Dunes In Schools Program. Thanks to our Partners, Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative Inc. and Fudpucker's Fishing Series, CBA's research vessel, 19' Mako, received a new motor!
CBA received the vessel 2 years ago as a donation from a local community member, which became the
primary research vessel for its monitoring programs because of its size and capacity limits for carrying equipment. After numerous trips to the mechanic, the original motor finally reached its life and desperately needed to be replaced, leaving CBA without a vessel to conduct its monitoring programs. So, CBA called upon its generous community of stewards for help and its Partners heard the call, loud and clear!
Thank you Chelco and Fudpucker's for giving CBA the ability to carry out its Monitoring Programs with your generous donation! CBA is so grateful for your continued support!

CBA Hosts Coastal Dune Lake
Ecology Field Trip
for Florida Undergraduate Students
|
|
CBA hosted undergraduate students from universities and colleges through the state of Florida in June for a coastal dune lake ecology field trip. These two groups were part of a summer class series that ventures to all areas of Florida to conduct marine science research. CBA brought the students to the Topsail Hill Preserve State Park to learn about coastal morphology and educate the students on coastal dune lake formations. On the first trip, students were able to see Loggerhead sea turtle tracks (pictured above: right) and even a nest in the sand dunes during their to the Campbell lake outfall! On the second day, students paddled around Campbell Lake and conduced a depth profile study of the lake to determine where different temperature and density gradients occurred.
