As summer is winding down, fall is shaping up to be busy!!!

Our AFP chapter is starting to plan for the future and looking ahead to 2015. Right now we're working on board nominations and beginning discussions on budget preparation for 2015. It's also time to evaluate our meeting venue. We have enjoyed our partnership with the Omni and are looking to return in 2015. I would love to hear feedback from the membership on the Omni Fort Worth Hotel for our chapter meetings so far this year.

Talking about the future!!

2015 DFW Philanthropy Conference

Planning for the AFP DFW Philanthropy in Action Conference begins in September. If you are interested in serving on the planning committee, please contact Larry Bisno at lbisno@healthntx.org. Committees include marketing and PR, sponsorships, exhibitor relations, logistics, guest relations and registration.

Jumping to the International level, what else is on the horizon for AFP? The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy conducts an annual appeal called Be The Cause (BTC) to generate resources to fund AFP strategic initiatives that advance ethical and effective fundraising. Each chapter has a goal based on membership size and previous participation and is charged with promoting BTC to the members. We are launching BTC this month and I would encourage members to consider making a gift. Our 2014 goal for Fort Worth Metro chapter is $1,800 and our deadline for contributions is December 31. More information on Be The Cause is available in a separate article.

As always, thank you for your involvement with the Fort Worth Metro Chapter. I hope you have marked your calendar for Monday, September 8 at 11:30 AM for our meeting at the Omni Hotel. It's going to be great!!!

2014 National Philanthropy Day

Plans are well underway for planning the 34th Annual National Philanthropy Day on October 30 at the Omni.

You may purchase your tables by going to the AFP Fort Worth website at: http://www.afpfortworth.com/

NPD is our chapter's signature fundraising event to promote and recognize philanthropy in our community. It is a wonderful opportunity for organization's to provide a meaningful stewardship event for their major donors without the headache or expense of planning a separate event, which can be very helpful for smaller organizations.

Special thanks to those organizations who have already reserved tables:

M. Gale and Associates

Cynthia Prince

ACH Child and Family Services

Michele Hahnfeld

Colonial Kids for the Cure-sponsored by M.Gale and Associates

If you have any questions regarding the event or sponsorship please contact Beth Zimmerman at beth.zimmerman@tcu.edu or Nancy Jeter at nancy.jeter@rmhfw.org.

Outstanding Philanthropic Orginzation:

Junior League of Fort Worth

Founded by 10 charter members in 1929, The Junior League of Fort Worth, Inc. (JLFW) has been driven by the same mission for 85 years.

This year, 2,000 members will provide over 45,000 volunteer hours to nearly 50 nonprofit agencies, as well as financially support the efforts of nine organizations, continuing a strong tradition of addressing important community issues and improving the lives of Fort Worth children and families.
