Sue Bailey
President's Message

Dear AFP Friends,

I love this quote: A good friend is cheaper than therapy! That is how I feel about my AFP fundraising colleagues. Networking with them always makes me feel better knowing I am not the only one dealing with a particular struggle. Sometimes a new AFP connection is very beneficial to my own nonprofit in our collaborative efforts. Often a luncheon speaker will impart some great information that I can implement and ultimately save our nonprofit in time and resources.

The perfect opportunity to learn new information and have concentrated networking is the DFW Philanthropy Conference on June 7th at the Irving Convention Center. It's a collaborative partnership with the Fort Worth AFP Chapter, and we share the leadership role every other year. This is Dallas' year to chair, and Judy Wright and her committee are doing a great job. It's not too late to register! Go to the conference website for more information, www.dfwphilanthropyconference.com/dfw.

Andrew Watt and Anita Crethers
AFP International President & CEO Andrew Watt and Paul Quinn Collegiate Chapter President Anita Crethers at the AFP International Conference.

Last month I attended the International Conference, where like-size chapter leadership shared ideas and problem solved providing the opportunity for additional networking and resource gathering to benefit our Dallas Chapter. While at the conference, I had the pleasure of spending time with Anita Crethers, President of the Paul Quinn collegiate AFP chapter. Your gifts to our chapter's AFP Now! campaign provided the scholarship for Anita to attend. This was a trip of "firsts" for Anita: first plane trip, first stay in a nice hotel, and her first conference! She also enjoyed meeting the President of AFP International, Andrew Watt.

All the members of your Dallas AFP Board have made a gift to AFP Now! To join them, go to http://www.afpdallas.org/afp-now.asp.

Mark your calendar to attend the May luncheon meeting, you might see some long time friends, make new friends and learn information on fundraising resources for your nonprofit.

Best regards,

Sue Bailey
