Dear Friends,
Diana Marquis

As fundraisers we all know summer is the Slow Season. Our major donors have gone to Colorado or Maine or someplace else. No grant deadlines are looming. The luncheon and gala season is still a few months away and really, we can only strategize and analyze for so long. What is a professional fundraiser to do?

What about planning ahead for your career and letting the AFP Dallas Chapter help? Are you a seasoned, experienced fundraiser? Do you have your CFRE? No? Meet others just like yourself at our August 27th program/luncheon meeting. Organize a study group and take the CFRE Review Course next summer.

Are you at the beginning of your fundraising career? Consider the Fundamentals of Fundraising course in October. The registration deadline is September 12th. You also need to meet Jessica Weidman. She is the point person for AFP mentoring in Dallas. Whether you want to work with a mentor or be a mentor or join her committee, let Jessica know at our next meeting or contact the Dallas Chapter AFP office.

So you're ready to do something, right? But no funds? The Dallas Chapter can help with that, too. Check out the scholarship page on our website. We have four scholarships that can be used for AFP membership dues, educational fees, course materials and, best of all, attending the AFP International Conference this spring in Baltimore. The scholarships are the John Davis Scholarship, the Barbara James Scholarship, the Ralph Chamberlain Scholarship and the Scott Buchanan Scholarship.

The Dallas Chapter of AFP is here for you. I said that last time and I'll say it again because it's important. Fundraising is all about relationships and that includes the colleagues you meet and the friends you make at our monthly luncheon programs, our continuing education courses, the DFW conference, and at our social gatherings. The Dallas Chapter of AFP is the place for you to network, ask for help, and grow your career as a professional fundraiser. I look forward to meeting you August 27th at Arlington Hall.

Sincerely,

Diana Marquis, CFRE
