Tom Blackwood has spent over 30 years in all forms of communications. He has written and directed live performance, video, speeches and lyrics. After earning his MBA from SMU, he dabbled in corporate life before becoming a joke writer. This came as no surprise to his business professors. As he wrote jokes by night, he worked by day at the Center for Nonprofit Management as a data base teacher in their Technology Learning Center, helping organizations build and maintain their mailing lists. He directed and performed with a national improvisational comedy group for ten years in the '80s and '90s, leaving the nightclub life after the birth of his daughter. He just finished a term on the board of an Alzheimers nonprofit and will be joining the board of a multi-church organization that provides scholarships to Mexican orphans. He has also chaired the Mission Committee at NorthPark Presbyterian, helping to supervise grant distributions.
