25th Anniversary Celebrations across the Alaska Synod

from the Bishop's desk:

As a church we are asked to celebrate our 25th Anniversary by serving in the community.  Cake may indeed be involved but the goal is to serve in the community rather than have a private party. Congregations across the Synod have stepped out with Christ-like service in creative ways. Some examples are below.

Petersburg LC celebrated by beautifying the Petersburg Children Center after Rally Sunday.  This included cutting grass, trimming trees and basic cleaning up.

Island of Faith-Wrangell wore the t-shirts while weeding and pruning the large landscape corner in front of the Senior Apartments.

Sitka Lutheran wore the shirts and made cookies. Lots and lots and lots of cookies! With thankful hearts they delivered them to those who serve our community - hospitals, fire and police departments, library, Coast Guard, Pioneer Home, and some of the elders of the congregation.

Shepherd of the Valley-Juneau

will be reflecting God's Work, Our Hands by a mission trip to Whitehorse the end of September.

His parents are very tired but very much in love with him." Hooray for new life!
