Distribution Day a Success
On August 6, 2016 families in the Denton Independent School District who rely on the Free and Reduced Meal Program picked up back-to-school assistance with IFM Denton's Apple Tree Project. You are a big part of our success in getting 1,500 students back-to-school assistance!

The Denton Independent School District provided benefit coordination, volunteers, and registration and event space.

The Denton Benefit League provided a grant to cover the purchase of school supply sets.

The Denton Breakfast Kiwanis Club provided a $5,000 grant and books for each child.

The Denton Noon Kiwanis Club made a $500 donation.

The Rees-Jones Foundation provided a grant to cover the purchase of $25 shoe store gift cards for each child.

Interfaith Ministries of Denton is a United Way of Denton County Partner Agency.

Host Sites Provided Clothing
for Adopted Apples
Students in the Apple Tree Project were guaranteed a backpack, school supplies and a shoe store gift card. Twenty-nine local businesses, organizations and churches added to that assistance by purchasing two new sets of clothing (or a gift card) for a male or female Denton ISD student whose family lives at or below the Federal Poverty Level.

We appreciate all of our host sites.

Volunteers Pause Before Starting a Day of Service
Our volunteers are awesome! We had long-time volunteers and new ones alike. CoServ, DATCU, Fidelity and SPARK (TWU) had multiple volunteers in attendance. At times it was hot and hectic, but staff and volunteers remained calm and cheerful on Distribution Day. We did it for the kids.

The following Denton businesses donated food and drinks for Distribution Day:

Kroger, University location
Little Caesars Pizza, University location
McAlister's Deli

Together we helped students
start the year with a smile.
