Join Pro-Choice Coalition's
Great American Write-In   Thursday, Aug. 18

In recognition of the 96th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, granting US women the hard fought right to vote, the Santa Barbara Pro-Choice Coalition is hosting its thirteenth annual Great American Write-In on Thursday, Aug. 18 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Santa Barbara Central Library's Faulkner Gallery.

Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss critical issues impacting women's health care and sign letters to our legislators in support of a wide variety of legislation that supports reproductive rights. This annual event brings together over 100 community members and generates thousands of letters to government officials regarding legislation that pertains to women's rights.

LWVSB is a member of the Pro-Choice Coalition and we urge you to attend this important event.
League News

Our Country is now in full election mode and the League is working hard on many issues including protecting everyone's right to vote. Our newly elected LWVUS President Chris Carson recently saluted the U.S. Supreme Court for striking down some of the the voting restrictions recently placed on the Voting Rights Act of 1965 in Shelby Co..NC v. Holder.

Throughout California voters are being registered. LWVSB needs your help to register voters on Sep 27, 2016 National Voter Registration Day. We plan on registering High School and College Students. Please contact VoterSer@lwvsantabarbara.org.

One year ago we were in full office remodel mode. What a difference a year makes! Now Bylaws and Local Procedures are up for review and rewrite. This work requires a group of 3 to 5 people plus input from all who are interested. Our current Bylaws and Procedures reside for your review on LWVSB Members-Only Website. Please contact our Webmaster at Wm@lwvsantabarbara.org if you want access. Anyone who is interested in this project  contact CoPresCommEd@lwvsantabarbara.org. Bylaws are the backbone of our organization; Local Procedures are the ribs.

You should have received your membership renewal letters. We certainly hope you will renew or consider joining the League. There is much work to do to register voters, participate in Voter Education Candidate and Proposition Pros & Cons Forums, to continue our monthly Community Forums and our Advocacy work. Please consider an additional donation.
