Chrysler choosen to lead TMS 402/602 in next Cycle
The Technical Activities Committee (TAC) of The Masonry Society (TMS) recently named Mr. John Chrysler as the next Chair of TMS 402/602, to replace Dr. Richard Bennett whose term will end with the approval of the current Committee's Closure, likely this fall. Chrysler has served on TMS 402/602 for many years and is its Chair of Construction Requirement Subcommittee. He is Past-President of TMS, and has served in numerous leadership roles both within TMS and outside of it. Read Chrysler's bio here.

With this appointment, TMS will work with Mr. Chrysler to begin planning the next revision cycle of Building Code Requirements and Specification for Masonry Structures (TMS 402/602). Once Chrysler assembles his leadership team, applications for membership on the Committee that were received earlier this summer will be reviewed, and appointments will be announced prior to TMS's Annual Meeting in October to ensure a productive set of meetings.

Watch Email Ballot of TMS Officers & Directors!
The Nominating Committee of The Masonry Society (TMS) will soon be sending out a ballot of nominees for TMS Officers and Board Members and requests that all Voting Members of the Society promptly respond to the Ballot, which will be sent by email in the next few days.

Appeals to TMS 402/602 on Agenda
In accordance with TMS Bylaws Article VIII, Section 2, TMS President Jerry Painter has called a meeting, via conference call and web-ex service, of TMS's Board of Directors and the Technical Activities Committee on August 31 at 1 pm ET. The primary purpose of the call is to discuss the Procedural and Technical Appeals submitted earlier this summer on TMS 402/602 and to provide opportunity for interested parties to comment on the appeals as required in Section 5.5 of TMS's Technical Committee Operations Manual (TCOM). If time permits, other business may also be considered.

To participate in the call, click here no later than August 18th
Chappell's Logo Concept Most Favored
Earlier this year, The Masonry Society (TMS) accepted logo design concepts from Members and the public to provide ideas for a possible new logo for the Society. By a wide margin, a logo concept developed by Austin Tyler Chappell, at North Carolina State University was most favored by voters, and by a TMS judging panel. Chappell's logo concept is shown to the right.

Thirty two logo concepts from 10 designers were submitted to the contest as shown here

Besides Chappell's winning logo, Sarah Frankel's Logo Concept 8 and TJ Hoving's Logo Concept 10 were selected as honorable mentions by the judging panel.

TMS leadership will now use these concepts to help narrow thoughts on a new logo for the Society, using a developer to pull in ideas, suggestions, and goals that TMS leaders want to be communicated through a new logo and brand.

Many thanks to the 10 graphic artists that submitted their logo concepts, to the many who "rated" the logos, and to the TMS judging panel. TMS will award Mr. Chappell the $500 prize during its Awards Luncheon on October 8 in North Carolina.

Alternatively, you could Forward the email with a personal note at the top, explaining that if they do not wish to receive the TMS forwarded messages from you, that they contact you directly to be removed from your particular email list.

Please note: Your email address is from a list solely owned and maintained by The Masonry Society (TMS) for our exclusive email purposes. TMS does NOT share our email lists.
