DENALI NATIONAL PARK, ALASKA
1/640 sec.,  f/13,  ISO 400

"To the lover of wilderness, Alaska is one of
the most wonderful countries in the world."
-- John Muir
Denali National Park, Alaska
September 5 - 9, 2017

North to Alaska! This is our most popular photo tour, and always fills quickly. Travel with me deep inside Denali National Park, where very few people ever get to go. But make no mistake - we will not be "roughing it." We stay in a lovely lodge with all the amenities including chef-prepared meals. And all the while we are surrounded by the most spectacular mountain scenery, plus a wide variety of wildlife including moose, caribou, grizzly bear, and more.

We are transported each day in a large bus where everyone has a window seat and plenty of room to spread out. Our trained naturalist driver will stop at any opportunity to photograph the vast vistas and the wildlife.

This is a trip like no other. You will be immersed in the most pristine wilderness left in our country. And each day will be filled with personalized photographic instruction, critiques, and some of the best shooting opportunities anywhere. Limited to only 10 people.

Discounts On Photo Gear

Don't miss out on these great specials, available from Hunt's Photo and Video. When I get info on great gear at great prices, I like to make you aware of it. And I never showcase equipment that I have not used myself. If I do not like it, I will not recommend it.

Also, it's important to know that Hunt's provides the best customer service of any photography reseller in the country. From the owner Gary Farber down to each individual representative, each one has your best interest at heart. You have to experience it to believe it, but it is true.

GREAT FOR MACRO AND FLOWERS
The Promaster LED 120SS Super Slim Rechargeable LED light is the best portable, packable light of this type I have found. It is small, slim, and packed with features. It has a dimmer switch to control the intensity of light, and it is rechargable so you can take it with you when photographing flowers outdoors to add an extra kick of light when needed. Great indoors for macro or still life set-ups, too. At the extra special price of only $39.99, it is quite a bargain.

MORE FOR MACRO
If you do not have extension tubes, or even if you do, think about adding this to your gear bag. With a long name  -  Savage Macro Art Variable Auto-Extension Tube  -  this device is unique. It is a zoom extension tube so you only need to carry one, not the set of 2 or 3 that used to be all that was available. You zoom this small and lightweight extension tube to get closer to a macro subject. Use it on your macro lens, or on any lens. Comes in either Canon or Nikon mount. At $159.99 it is an inexpensive way to get up close and personal.

WIDE ANGLE LENS BARGAIN
Canon recently introduced the amazing 10-18mm IS wide angle zoom lens. It is designed for cropped sensor bodies and has gotten great reviews. Its superb image quality and IS feature is not surprising, but what is surprising is the price. At only $279.99, this is the least expensive IS lens Canon offers, and the price is no reflection of the image quality. So if you have been wanting a super-wide angle lens for your cropped sensor Canon body, this  might just be the lens for you.

Hunt's can also offer other specials exclusive to Awake The Light clients and students. So if there is something you want, contact Alan Samiljan at Hunt's at 800-221-1830, or email him.   Be sure to mention my name and Awake The Light to get the best price and the best service.

These specials are in effect through the end of the year. But if you see something you like, go ahead and order it soon while supplies are good.

The last issue of the newsletter showcased client work from the recent Smoky Mountains Wildflowers & Wildwater photo tour. One participant was unable to provide an image before the deadline, so here it is. It was worth the wait.

The work of other participants appeared in the May newsletter.

More Exciting Photo Workshops
& Tours Coming Soon!

More photo trips and workshops for 2017 will be announced soon! The 2017 Alaska Brown Bears Bonanza trip is already full. But there are still a few spaces left in the Denali trip (information above).

Stay tuned for many more workshops and trips coming soon.

I am leaving soon for Alaska and will be running several trips there through mid-September. So blog posts and Facebook entries will be more sporadic due to a busy schedule and intermittent internet access. I hope to return with more great images to share with you. But most importantly I want to help all participants get their best images! After all, that is why people sign up for Awake The Light photo workshops and tours. They know they will have a great time, get superb images, learn new things, and be treated right each and every day. If you have a location on your wish list, let me know. I can plan custom trips and workshops for your camera club or photo friends.
