Position Description
The Consortium for Faculty Diversity at Liberal Arts Colleges invites applications in all disciplines for Scholar-in-Residence appointments.
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or unconditional permanent residents committed to and willing to contribute to enhancing the diversity of the faculty at consortia colleges. Scholars will receive a salary equivalent to that of Visiting Assistant Professors at their host institution. Scholars will be assigned up to 60% of the teaching load for a full-time faculty member per academic year at the host institution and contribute to other campus activities. Mentoring on teaching, scholarship, and professional life at liberal arts colleges will be provided.

Qualifications
Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. or an M.F.A. degree by July 31, 2016, but not before July 31, 2011(Maximum of 5 years since degree completion.)

Applicants should either be working toward a Ph.D. or an M.F.A. degree and must have completed all degree requirements except for the dissertation. Lawrence University, a selective undergraduate liberal arts college and conservatory of music located in Appleton, Wisconsin, seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies to begin September 1, 2017. Candidates are expected to have a PhD in hand by the beginning of appointment. We seek candidates with a strong background in Ethnic Studies or Sociology, or other area of social science with a focus on race and ethnicity. The preferred candidate will have a research specialization in contemporary African American experience; candidates who have a social science background and specialize in Latin@, Asian American, and/or Native American experience are also strongly encouraged to apply.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate in the development of a new major in Ethnic Studies and to interact with other departments and programs. Responsibilities will include teaching introductory Ethnic Studies courses, developing upper level Ethnic Studies courses in the candidate's areas of interest and expertise, and contributing to Lawrence's Freshman Studies program on a regular basis. A passion for teaching in a liberal arts setting is expected of all Lawrence University faculty members.

The Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Irvine seeks applicants for the position of department chair. This represents an opportunity to join a flourishing department committed to groundbreaking research that will address the future of the field as it engages with both changing conditions of the world and established modes of scholarly inquiry. The successful candidate will be a scholar with a distinguished academic background who also possesses a vision for emergent anthropologies, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and the administrative experience necessary to assume leadership as chair of the department. Such administrative experience might include prior leadership roles at the department level. It could also include innovative work in communicating the value of anthropology to broad publics, as well as creative programming, advocacy, and fundraising. This appointment is expected to be at the full professor level, with the area of specialization open, to begin July 1, 2017.

Two Open-Rank Positions in Race, Religion, and the African Diaspora Boston College's African and African Diaspora Studies Program (AADS) invites applications for two open-rank, open field core faculty positions in race, religion, and the African Diaspora, to begin in August 2017.
There will be two jointly appointed positions, one in the Department of Theology and the other in another cooperating department. In theology, we are seeking a scholar with competency in systematic/constructive theology, ethics, comparative theology, liberation theology, feminist theology, or black theology. For the second position, we are seeking a scholar in fields such as religion, religious studies, African diaspora studies, history, art history, sociology, anthropology, political science, comparative literature, ethnic studies, and women's and gender studies who specializes in the religious experiences of African-descended people. We envision successful candidates teaching classes such as Introduction to African and African Diaspora Religions; Religion in Africa; Varieties of Black Religious Experience; Race, Religion, and Social Justice; and Introduction to Black Theology.
The AADS Program has six core faculty members and twelve affiliate faculty members working in English, History, Communication, Sociology, Theology, Romance Languages and Literatures, and Philosophy. In 2016-2017, we will also be searching for another core faculty member who specializes in African American Literature and Culture to be jointly appointed with the English Department. Successful candidates will have an active research and publication profile, a record demonstrating excellence in teaching, and PhD or the equivalent in a relevant field by August 2017.
