Adult Education
Sundays | 9:30am & 11am | Heritage Room
Rev Dr Mark Lee Robinson: We are encouraged to pray but even Jesus' disciples asked for guidance about how to do it. In this class we will look at what prayer is broadly but focus especially on two contemplative forms; Lectio Divina and Centering Prayer.

St. Louis Metro Crop Hunger Walk
September 25 | Meet @church 12:30pm | Eden Seminary
Once again Parkway will recruit walkers and solicit donations for the Church World Service CROP Hunger Walk at Eden Seminary on September 25th. Our church goal this year is $2000.00. The Crop Hunger Walk raises funds for alleviating hunger around the world. With all the turmoil around the world right now, there is a huge need to feed millions of refugees. Church World Service is the avenue for churches to participate in this.
We are asking for members who are able to walk the one or three mile route through Webster Groves and secure financial sponsors who will donate in the walker's name. All walkers who raise $100 or more will receive a Crop t-shirt. Parkway will award its top fund raiser with a special gift and recognition.
Walkers register online at www.crophungerwalk.org. Find Parkway in the list and either register or donate. There is also a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CropWalk2016. Or you can sign up as a walker or donor on the poster in the Gathering Space and we will contact you with the details.
CROP is the hunger fighting wing of Church World Service which is supported by many denominations including the United Church of Christ. The Walk is ecumenical, interfaith and community wide, 25% of the funds raised stay in St. Louis.
For more information or for help with signing up to walk or sponsor talk with Sue Moellering, 636 949 2925 or susieqslp@sbcglobal.net

Choir Call
If you enjoy singing, we would love to have you sing with us. The choir is a warm and welcoming group-we work hard, have fun, and enjoy making music together. Our rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm, and we sing for the 9:30 worship service on Sundays, with a warm up at 8:45. Child care is provided on Wednesday evenings and before the service on Sundays. This fall our rehearsals begin on Wednesday, August 31, and we will sing for the 9:30 worship services beginning on Sunday, September 11. We very much need additional singers! If you would like to join us, please contact Barbara Raedeke at BRaedeke@aol.com, or just come to the first rehearsal on August 31. You will be most welcome!

Our new monitor gives us a chance to share our favorite Parkway UCC photos with visitors to our building and those of us who know the building inside and out. Email your best PUCC photos to Mona Herberg with a brief caption, and maybe a year if you know. If possible, make sure everybody pictured has given you permission to share the photos with the church-nobody wants to see coffee spit-takes between services. Photos will be rotated in and out of use, so don't be surprised if you don't see it right away.

As part of the sabbatical segment promoting Healthy Relationships,  we are initiating a project to express our Faith Stories. We hope to gain a deeper understanding of each other as we share faith journeys through written thoughts and experiences that have brought us closer to God. We hope many of you will participate and also consider sharing your 2-3 page Faith Story during the service in the upcoming months of September/October.

Inspiration
The great Swiss theologian Karl Barth wrote, "A being is free only when it can determine and limit its activity." By that definition, I have a hard time counting many free beings among my acquaintance. I know people who can do five things at once who are incapable of doing nothing...Since I have been one of these people, I know that saying no is a more difficult spiritual practice than tithing, praying on a cold stone floor, or visiting a prisoner on death row. ~Barbara Brown Taylor, 21st century
