Attention 7th Grade Parents & Students:
SEA CAMP Information

SeaCamp is a marine science camp in San Diego, CA that all 7th Grade STEM students have the opportunity to attend this year! Students experience a week of hands-on, interactive learning covering a wide scope of marine information.

We will have detailed parent information available during Back to School Night Wednesday August 17. Information will include  a brief explanation of the trip, requirements to attend and question/answer session. This will take place in the 7th grade science classrooms.

To help with your family planning, the two weeks for the trip are November 14-18, 2016 and April 24-28, 2017. Though we have two separate weeks secured, spots are still limited given the total number of 7th grade students this year. In order to remedy this, and still maintain fairness, we will have a lottery to fill these spots.

In order to be eligible for the lottery, ONLY paper forms and the online Google form MUST be received by Thursday, August 25, 2016. Paper forms needs to be turned into the Middle School office in a sealed envelope addressed to Kathy Dwyer. Due to some work being done on the STEM website, we are a bit late in getting the form links on the site. We apologize and are still working on it. There will be an email to all 7th grade parents as soon as the links are available.

If selected in the lottery, you will receive a notification email. You will have 48 hours to sign up and pay your $400 deposit using the RevTrack link within the email. After the 48 hours has lapsed, students on the waitlist will be contacted and put on the attendee list.

The remaining full payment will need to be received by early October 2016. The total will be between $1,100-1,200 and also paid through RevTrack. Unfortunately, an exact total cannot be given without the deposits paid, which is necessary to secure the flights.

For questions, please contact the trip coordinator, Kathy Dwyer, via email at [email protected]

CogAT Universal Testing Information:

In early September all STEM School students in Grade 3 and 5 will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT 7). This assessment indicates the level and pattern of cognitive development of a student in comparison to grade and age mates.  These general reasoning abilities, which start developing at birth and continue through early adulthood, are influenced by experiences gained both in and out of school.
