Lovejoy HS News 08 08 16

Parents and Guardians,

T-minus two weeks and counting! If your family is like ours, your students are trying to squeeze the most out of the remaining time until school starts.

Please take a few minutes and review the important information found below.

Have a great week!

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School

NOTE:
In an effort to be as efficient as possible, we prioritize our parent email as follows:
* New or time-sensitive topics of interest are at the top of the list
* Followed by the Calendar of Events and Activities
* Older items appear below the calendar until they become obsolete

If you would like to update your district/campus email preferences or change your email address, please click on the  Update Profile link at the footer of this email. You will receive an email from Constant Contact which will allow you to update your information and campus news preferences.

New/9th Grade Parent Meeting - DATE CHANGE!!
We recently discovered that the "Walk the Creek" was scheduled for the same day as our parent meeting, so we are changing our meeting from Thursday, August 18th to Monday, August 15th at 6:30 pm in the LHS Main Gym.

School Supplies
Compiling a list of common items needed for Lovejoy High School is a bit difficult considering the diversity of classes that a typical student can take. Knowing that many of you may want to shop for school supplies before you receive the complete list from teachers on the 1st day of school, we invite you to click SUPPLIES to consult a spreadsheet that details what items are needed for each department. Please note that there are 5 tabs, one for each of the core subjects: Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and LOTE.

Student Parking 2016-17
(All LHS students who drive and park are required to register their car)
Student selection of parking spots will take place on the following dates:

Wednesday, August 10th - Seniors only
Thursday, August 11th - Juniors only
Friday, August 12th - Sophomores and Freshmen

The purchase window will open at 9:00 am each day.

In an effort to go "paperless" this year, you will be completing an online parking application. You will be given several opportunities to complete an application during the purchase process. If you would like to take care of it ahead of time, simply click on the following link:

Attention: Seniors
The college counselors will host an ESSAY workshop on Friday, 8/12, from 9-11AM, in the LHS Lecture Hall. This would be a great time for new seniors to gain some insight about the ins-and-outs of the essay and what colleges prefer to see in them.
-- Students who cannot attend due to prior commitments are encouraged to contact their college counselor for review.
Mrs. Snyder -- Last names A-K
Mr. Trevino -- Last names L-Z
We hope to see you next Friday in the lecture hall!
