If you blinked, you have might missed summer, as it flew by in a flash for so many St. Josaphat families!  St. Josaphat School students returned to the classroom this week excited to see each other and ready to kick off a new year!  As anyone who has been on Belden & Southport in the morning this week knows, parents were eager to capture their students' first day moments as iPhones flashed and a few tears were shed (parents and children alike!).  Miss Cannon and Mrs. Talbot and their enthusiastic educators welcomed everyone back to a school in tip-top shape, thanks to our amazing staff.  Fourth grader Meredith Duryea pointed out that seeing what life is like in a new and different classroom is part of the fun of a new school year while her sister Nora reminded us that a new year is always a good time to make new friends and see those you haven't in awhile.  Stay tuned to the JosaFAST for some school updates throughout this year!  Our school is looking forward to a year of growing and learning through scholarship, athletics, and activities!

As we transition into the fall months at St. Josaphat Parish and welcome our students back to school, we wish to provide you an update on the "Rebuilding Our Home" campaign.

As you may be aware, the goal of this campaign is to raise $3 million to pay for much-needed masonry repairs to the church and rectory, the addition of new handicap-accessible bathrooms in  church, and our portion of the Archdiocesan capital campaign, "To Teach Who Christ Is," raising money for scholarships and general purposes including providing loans to parishes in need (like our parish a few years ago when we were faced with some emergency repairs).

At this time, your fellow parishioners have pledged approximately $2,250,000 toward our $3,000,000 goal.  This is excellent progress, and we are all very excited that our ultimate objective is within reach! We are now reaching out to finalize the pledges necessary to surpass the $3,000,000 mark.  The vitality of the St. Josaphat Parish is dependent upon the broad participation of its parishioners, including you!

Over the past several decades, the capital needs of our parish have been met with similar campaigns.  Many before us have made great sacrifices to secure, maintain, and enhance our beautiful parish campus.  It is now our responsibility to continue this stewardship of our church and ensure its structural stability. Please consider making a three-year pledge to the campaign, ensuring the vital presence of St. Josaphat Parish for future generations.

Not sure how much to pledge?   Consider a $15,000 three-year pledge.  That equates to $5,000 each year for the next three years.  And don't forget the tax benefit of your pledge:  a pledge of $15,000 equates to an after-tax total pledge amount of $10,050 - $10,800 depending on your tax bracket.  The campaign gets the full amount of your pledge but you get the tax benefit, each year of your three-year pledge.
