September 2016                     The Official News of the Duval County Council PTA/PTSA                       Volume 1
President's Message

Schools may have been on vacation, but your County Council has been hard at work for our students.  Among our summer highlights were:

Summer Activities
  • We hosted 4 Presidents' and Treasurers' Training Programs over the summer to train the new incoming officers.
  • We attended the National PTA Convention in June in Orlando and witnessed the power of PTA!
  • We attended the Florida PTA State Convention in July with many of our local PTA Units.
FL PTA Leadership Convention
  • Duval's local units were honored by Florida PTA for all the great work they do for the students of our county.
  • Over 25 local PTAs were honored and we encourage you to apply for the FL PTA awards this year.  You all deserve to be recognized for the important work you do all year for your students, parents and teachers. The seminars, speakers and the fellowship were amazing.
  • We came home with new ideas and new friends.
  • We hope you all will put this convention on your calendar and in your budget for next summer.
