The South Dakota Department of Transportation and Department of Tourism are seeking public comments on a proposed plan to update and revitalize the state's interstate rest areas.
"The rest areas at our borders are likely to be the first impression a traveler has of South Dakota," says Jim Hagen, secretary of Tourism. "I appreciate the time and effort the task force spent visiting each rest area to come up with a plan to better serve our citizens and visitors at these locations."
Currently, there are 21 rest areas located along interstates 29 and 90 in South Dakota, with 13 currently functioning as staffed information centers during the summer months. Click here for full article

The top happiest city in South Dakota goes to Yankton. In what was once the capital of the entire Dakota Territory, the 14,500 residents here are pretty happy with how life is treating them in this city. Low divorce rates, affordable housing, relatively low crime, low commute time, and great restaurants, attractions, and more all factor into making Yankton one of the bes
t places to live in South Dakota.
