August 25, 2016

It's been a great first week of opening ceremonies and competition at Roger Glass Stadium - Home of the Eagles. We kicked things off with Meet the Eagles, welcomed in the community with Kid's Night Under the Lights, held our first competition with men's and women's soccer, and had our ribbon cutting. Now, we are preparing for a sold-out game as we host  our first home football game in downtown Dayton! We are truly blessed to have this opportunity and couldn't have done it without numerous people giving their time, talent, and treasure. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you!

We have had quite a few alumni in awe when they walk through the gates of Roger Glass Stadium. It has been many years in the hoping, planning, and making - the dream has become reality. And while we are truly blessed to have one of, if not the best stadium in the Miami Valley, it is the people of CJ that make it a special place. From our faculty and staff who truly care for the young people that are entrusted to us every day, our coaches who pass on their passion and skills because they believe in our student-athletes, our maintenance and cleaning crew who do so much behind the scenes, our parents and guardians who sacrifice so much, our benefactors and alumni who believe in CJ and support us in so many ways, and of course our students, who bring to life day in and day out the mission of CJ. It truly is a community living out God's will.

So, let us be in awe of the vision and work that brought to life Roger Glass Stadium,  but also in awe of the people of CJ as they have made CJ's campus, "Home Sweet Home."

God bless, thank you and GO EAGLES!

MINISTRY & SERVICE

From the Chaplain's Office
This Wednesday, August 31, we will have our first All School Liturgy at Emmanuel Church. All members of the CJ Family are invited to join our students, faculty and staff as we celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit, asking for an outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit as we begin a new school year. Specifically, we will pray for the gift of unity through love, remembering that each of us is united together in the one Body of Christ.

You are also invited to join us every  Monday , Tuesday,
Thursday  and  Friday  at  7:20 a.m.  in the CJ Chapel for daily Mass. It's a wonderful way to begin the day - Mass lasts about 25 minutes. Fr. Bob is also available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) on Tuesdays during periods 4 and 5, or other times by appointment.

Junior & Senior Kairos Retreats
By the end of this week, all juniors and seniors will have selected their choice for which retreat they'd like to attend.  They will get a confirmation notice in the next week that will need to to be signed by a parent/guardian.

Summer Service Hours
All summer service hours are due to Ministry & Service by  Wed., Aug. 31 . These are hours that students volunteer over and above their requirements. All required hours are due to their religion teachers later in the year. Students will receive specific instructions about these required service hours from their religion teachers.

Service Opportunities
Attention parents of freshmen and sophomores, service opportunities are now available for students as they begin working to complete their required hours. To sign up, students need to come to Ministry & Service before or after school, during homeroom, lunch or study hall time. We will also post these opportunities on the Student News site under the Ministry & Service tab so that they can check them out any time - though they cannot sign up for them through this site. This will be updated on a weekly basis.
