Thank You For Your Participation in the Beit Shirah & 2015 Fundraiser!
From President Dina Gumins: I want to thank everyone who participated in our
Beit Shirah - those that helped with the beautiful service and celebration, those that attended, those that donated and, of course, Cantor Sobel, to whom we owe our gratitude for serving our congregation for the past 25 years. We came together as a community last Friday for a beautiful service to pay tribute to our past, present and future and to honor Cantor Sobel. We were treated to special musical arrangements by our Cantor and moving duets in which he harmonized with Rabbi Bearman and with his son, Nathan Sobel. Our Beit Shirah-House of Song, was bursting with 140 voices as we chanted, prayed and sang our way through Shabbat.
Our photo gallery at the Temple now features some of the best of TBC over the years. Please take a look next time you're in the building - you're likely to see things you've never seen before. As of June 9, 2015, our fund raising efforts have yielded $28,900 out of our goal of $30,000. I am so proud to be a part of this congregation. All funds raised go to support TBC programs. Below are the names of those who contributed to our 2015 annual fundraiser. My deepest thanks to all. - Dina Contributors as of 6/9/2015

Cantor's Remarks at the Celebration of His 25th Year at Temple B'nai Chaim
"I want to start my remarks by sharing some thoughts from Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel's essay entitled "The Vocation of the Cantor" an essay which continues to guide and inspire me:
To attain a degree of spiritual security one cannot rely upon one's own resources. One needs an atmosphere where the concern for the spirit is shared by a community. We are in need of students and scholars, masters and specialists. But we also need the company of witnesses, of human beings who are engaged in worship, who for a moment sense the truth that life is meaningless without attachment to God. It is the task of the Cantor to create the liturgical community, to convert a plurality of praying individuals into a unity of worship... Read the full text of the Cantor's remarks.
