Learning to Sew and LOVING IT!

It's Time for Another Cool Year of Sewing!

Summer is coming to a close and the new school year is upon us. I had a great summer teaching sewing classes at Tower Hill but I'm getting excited to begin new sewing projects in my fall classes! This year I'm hoping to teach sewing classes 5 days a week at Tower Hill. I have a Beginning Sewing on the Go for second through sixth grade on Monday, an Intermediate Sewing on the Go for second through sixth grade on Tuesday and Wednesday, a Junior Sewing on the Go for K through First on Thursday and finally a S ewing Sampler for Pre-K on Friday. Lots of sewing and fun for all! Contact Ann Clay for registration information at  302-575-0550 ext 209 or email her at [email protected] or check my website for more information.

If you aren't a student at Tower Hill or you're an older student or adult wanting to learn to sew, give me a call so we can set up some lessons! I'm really flexible and can usually find a time each week (including weekends) that we can meet for a sewing lesson. Call me at 610-494-7742 or email me at [email protected].

Regardless of which venue you choose, just relax and enjoy your sewing adventure. Fall is a great time to stitch a Halloween costume or sew for the upcoming holidays. Sew up some pillows for your bedroom or a duffel bag or purse to carry all your stuff. Embellish your projects to make them your own. And above all, just have fun. Learning to Sew and Loving It!

Fun Stitch Studio Books Become Text Books in Ms Bobbi's Sewing Classes

I have been carrying C&T books for a number of years in my shop and online and I can't say enough good things about C&T's Fun Stitch Studio Books.  Each book is packed with information for the beginner sewer. Lots of photographs and illustrations and written on a level that kids will understand and the projects are engaging and reflect the interests of today's kids.

This fall I will be using 3 Fun Stitch Studio books as text books in my classes. I'll add more as the year progresses. In the past I have used projects from all the books. This year all the girls will be able to use a copy in class. Parents will be able to purchase these books on my website if their kids love them as much as I do (at a great discount too) I want the kids to have a chance to see what wonderful resources these books can be for them.  The 3 books that we will start with this year are as follows:

The Amazing Stitching Handbook by Kristin Nicholas. Kristin studied Clothing and Textiles at the University of Delaware, Oregon State University , and Colorado State University.  This book will be used in all my classes. Kristin teaches 17 Embroidery Stitches with 15 Fun and Easy (and Cool) Projects! (All Classes)

Girl's Guide to DIY Fashion by Rachel Low . Rachel is the owner of Pins and Needles, a modern sewing and crafting boutique and studio in NYC. Like me she wants to encourage girls to be creative and have fun doing it. (Intermediate)

We Love to Sew by Annabel Wrigley. Annabel has 3 books in the Fun Stitch Studio line. This first book is in its third printing! Lots of neat projects that all of my kids loved to stitch! (Junior and Beginning Sewing on the Go)

Speaking of Jeans:

With denim being such a hot fall fashion I thought we would have some fun with denim in our classes this fall. I would love for parents to help me with this project by finding an old pair of jeans that their kids can cut up in class. They can be children's or adults but the bigger the pair of jeans of jeans the more fabric your sewer will have to work with while designing their projects. More on these projects later... For now, as you look over wardrobes to see what they've outgrown, please think of our sewing class ;-)

Until next time...

Most Sincerely,
Ms. Bobbi
