Principal's Message

Welcome Back to Murwood!
Welcome back to Murwood!  Our school is shiny and bright and filled with the sounds of our wonderful students' learning.  We have had a very smooth opening, and great thanks are due to Lynnette, Stacy  and our new Office Clerk, Nancy, in the office for their incredible organization and attention to detail.  We also owe a great big thank you to Vee and Carmela for making our school look so beautiful!  Finally, to our dedicated teachers and support staff, your round the clock efforts to welcome each child warmly are appreciated.  We are so lucky to share every day with each of you.
 
The parking lot was calm and safe this morning, thanks to everyone leaving extra time to park or navigate the larger student body.  Please remember if you are parking to leave spots marked "Staff" for teachers.  We also ask that you not park and block the fire lane along the right side of the entrance.  Finally, for everyone's safety, please use the path that leads from Vanderslice to the front of the school and our crosswalk.   
 
A big thank you to our 5th grade Leadership Coordinator, Maddie W., and her friends Teagan, Ruby,  and Lily, for helping us get TK and K students safely to their classroom from the curb.  What fantastic leaders and community service!
 
We have had a great start with children being on time for school and ask that you keep up the great work.  It maximizes everyone's learning time and promotes a calm, cohesive learning environment.  Thank you!
 
A few dates to remember:
  
BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT GRADES 1 - 5!!  THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 
Please join us for this PARENTS ONLY evening to learn about your child's academic year.  Please note there is no supervision on the playground.
The schedule is:
6:30 PM - 7:15 First through Third grade classroom presentations
7:15 PM - 7:30 Parents join Principal, PTA and WCEF in MPR.
7:30 PM- 8:15  Fourth and Fifth Grade classroom presentations.
  
SHORTENED DAY FOR ALL STUDENTS!! FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
TK/Kindergarten 8:00 AM - 11:20 AM
Grades 1 - 5:  8:15 AM - 12:30PM

Dear Murwood Families,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!
 
Summer has flown by and we are looking forward to a great school year at Murwood Elementary!  Over the Summer, the PTA has been planning many fun Community Events and Fundraisers for the upcoming year and we look forward to sharing them with you in the upcoming weeks.

Murwood is more than a school - it is like a family.  Its family feeling is due to the amazing parents and children that are part of our community, as well as all of the community building events sponsored each year by the PTA.  We would love to have your 100% involvement in this year's activities.  Let's reach for the stars!  Involvement is great way to meet new families, and to see how our school and community work together!

Join us on August 29th and meet our new Superintendent of the Walnut Creek School District, Marie Morgan, at 8:30am on our Murwood campus.  Coming up on September 23rd is our Welcome Back Picnic starting at 5:00 pm.  You won't want to miss either of these fantastic events!!

The PTA Board members and I also look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night next week!  It is a great way to meet your children's teachers and learn about what they have planned for the upcoming year.

All participants must fill out the  MURWOOD ASE WAIVER.  One form is necessary for each and every student. Do not combine by family. 

***THIS FORM MUST BE COMPLETED FOR ALL STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN AFTERSCHOOL CLASS. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND CLASS UNTIL THE FORM IS RECEIVED***

Back to school fashion show at Macy's Broadway Plaza
Come enjoy a back-to-school fashion show at the Broadway Plaza Macy's on August 27 at 2:00 p.m. featuring students from Walnut Creek School District schools and Las Lomas. The event includes raffles and 30 percent off most items. Don't miss this exciting opportunity!
