Men's Club Bar-b-Que & Havdalah
Success & Thank Yous

The first event of the new Men's Club took place last Saturday evening in the TBC courtyard.  We enjoyed a delicious bar-b-que and great company.  The group included TBC men as well as some of their wives.  A special thank you to all of the men who helped to put this together, as well as the Rabbi for the fine Havdalah service.  Know this was greatly appreciated.  The next Men's Club event will be another bar-b-que for the first day of Religious School.  We will have burgers, hot dogs plus... for the men, women and children at the Religious School opening.  It should be a good kick off.
A Caring Community

We wanted to acknowledge the extraordinary number of losses that our community has suffered over the past year.  So many of our families are grieving, and we want them to know that we stand with them as their extended family- ready and willing to offer any kind of support they may need.

We would also like to thank all of the members who have offered comfort and friendship  to those grieving in our community.  Your love, food, and strength have been much appreciated by all of our TBC families.

As we look ahead, we are excited to celebrate and highlight more of the simchas (joyous moments) in our TBC family.  If you would like to share your simchah with the congregation, please send Rabbi Bearman information about your celebration.   We will continue to offer strength and compassion to one another- sharing in times of both grief and joy.

Chazak, Chazak, V'nitchazek.
Be strong, be strong, and let us strengthen one another.  -Rabbi Bearman, Cantor Sobel, and Dina Gumins, President

TBC Seeking Town Ambassadors!

Do you enjoy meeting new people?

Do you enjoy talking about your town?

Do you take pride in being part of TBC?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you're a good candidate to become a Town Ambassador.  Town Ambassadors will  assist the Membership Chairs by getting to know prospective members and helping them through the membership process.  You will be part of a team that will facilitate the growth of our synagogue. If you'd like more information, please contact Susan Farber or Deborah List at membership@templebnaichaim.org

Nu Haven Kapelye to perform at Topstone Park Tonight July 16 at 7:30pm
This free concert is co-sponsored by Redding Park and Recreation and Temple B'nai Chaim.  Attendees should bring lawn chairs as there is a limited number of chairs available at the park.

The Nu Haven Kapelye, is a Klezmer orchestra made up of musicians from many faiths and all walks of life: amateurs, professionals, young and old.  The 20+ musicians and singers who comprise the Nu Haven Kapelye come together to play and explore the sounds of Klezmer, Eastern European Jewish dance music and Yiddish song. The group is Southern New England's largest Klezmer orchestra, but perhaps more importantly this group unveils the best of what happens when people of all ages come together to make music.

Let the Sun Shine - TBC to Go Solar!

As introduced at May's Congregational meeting, TBC has the opportunity to have solar energy panels installed on the roof of the new building, producing just about all of the electricity our building utilizes throughout the year.  Due to generous renewable energy credits, "green energy" financing and a robust solar marketplace, TBC has gone through a bidding/selection process and now has the opportunity to - at no cost to TBC - have a solar generation system completely installed and maintained on our behalf.

Benefits of the system include cost-savings through a 20 year fixed electrical generation rate that is significantly lower than our current rate, as well as demonstrating our commitment to being mindful stewards of our environment.  Further, the panels themselves will be positioned in such a way as to complement and not interfere with the aesthetic of the new part of our building.  Interested in learning more and seeing renderings of the completed project?

Click here for more information and renderings.  After you've taken a look, we'd welcome hearing from you with any comments and/or questions.
