Dear Members and Colleagues 

Its been another busy month for the clean energy sector and following the summer break, September sees the start of many exciting industry activities and exhibitions. CEBC is looking forward to supporting and participating in upcoming events including The Dubai Solar Show, World Green Economy Summit and the 4th PV Briefing & Networking Forum.  We also have a film competition planned as part of CEBC's Schools Program and we look forward to sharing details with you soon.

This month CEBC hosted a workshop dedicated to waste-to-energy solutions for MENA. Attended by 170 key industry stakeholders from across the region and global stage, there was plenty of informative, lively and engaging discussions. The Council extends a special thanks to keynote speaker Mr. Taher Diab, Senior Director Strategy & Planning, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Secretary General of the Emirates Energy Award, for sharing DSCE's  vision for Dubai as a role model in energy security & efficiency, and the role that Waste to Energy will play in driving Dubai's Green agenda.

CEBC's next event taking place on 28 September will focus on energy efficiency and more information and how to register can be found in the event section below.

Renewables Revolution: Waste to Energy Generation
This workshop looked at  smart technologies and process innovation in developing efficient, sustainable and forward-looking waste management strategies, challenges facing the region's waste management and recycling efforts, trends and policies, as well as innovations and regulatory frameworks and financing structures. Introduction to TAQATI | Dubai Energy Efficiency Program
TAQATI is the dedicated program management office for the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy. It was established under a mandate by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy in 2016 to manage the DSM Strategy implementation, provide dedicated support to the Dubai government entities and program owners, and report on the progress of the strategy and savings performance. The core objective of the DSM Strategy is 30% reduction in electricity and water consumption by 2030. [Watch video Arabic]  [Watch video English]

Film4Climate Global Video Competition | Submission deadline 15 September
Connect4Climate is a global program launched by the World Bank Group, Italian Ministry of Environment, and German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, that takes on climate change by promoting solutions and empowering people to act. Young filmmakers are invited to showcase their talents and c reate either a Public Service Advertisement (< 1 min) or a Short Film (1 - 5 minutes) about climate action. The competition is open to filmmakers from all over the world, ages 14 to 35, and the deadline for submissions is  September 15, 2016. [More information and Jury]

CEBC School Ambassador participates in UN youth panel on women's leadership
A Dubai student last week took part in a United Nations panel on young women's leadership roles in sustainable development.  Kehkashan Basu, 16, an Indian grade 12 pupil at Deira International School and Student Ambassador for the CEBC Schools Environment Protection Program, joined a panel comprised of young women from around the world, as part of the UN's Summer Youth Assembly in New York.  [Read more]
