Library Accepting Applications for Teen Library Council
Folsom teenagers ages 14 to 18 are encouraged to apply for the Teen Library Council. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to help plan events for teens and meet other teens who enjoy reading and the library! Applications are due September 15. The Teen Library Council meets the first Friday of the month at 3:30 p.m. from September through May. Applications are available on the Folsom Public Library website or in the teen room at the library.

Donors Needed for Tuesday's Blood Drive at the Folsom Public Library
Ten more donors are needed for Tuesday's blood drive at the Folsom Public Library from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. One donation has the potential to save as many as three lives. To make an appointment to donate visit www.bloodsource.org/drives and enter blood drive code D327. For eligibility questions call BloodSource at 1-800-995-4420.
3D Printing Lab Now Open Every Sunday
Bring your ideas to life at the Folsom Public Library's 3D printing lab, now open every Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The Library's 3D printers make 3D objects in plastic using a design that is uploaded from a digital computer file. Folsom Public Library's 3D Printing Lab has six 3D printers, including four PrintrBot Simples and two PrintrBot Plays. 3D printing is currently free, but plastic filament donations are welcome. The lab was made possible thanks to grant funding from the Intel Foundation.

Register now for Glow Run and Save on Entry Fees
Join the all-ages fun at the fourth annual Glow Run on Saturday, October 1 starting at 7:45 p.m. in Folsom's Historic District. The non-competitive 4K walk/run includes the popular Silly String battle zone, DJ music, a foam tunnel finish line, and - of course - glowing, neon, and lighted costumes! All registered participants receive glow goodies and a custom-designed commemorative Glow Run finisher's medal. Early-bird registration fees apply through August 31; prices increase September 1. New Senior Fitness Classes
The Folsom Senior Center at 48 Natoma Street is offering two new fitness classes for ages 50+. The Active Agers program focuses on mobility, flexibility, and strength training; class is held 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Sittin' Fitness class works on gentle stretching and mobility exercises that are performed while sitting in a chair; class is held 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Not sure which class works best for you? Try them both out - the first session is free! Classes are ongoing; join at any time with the purchase of a 5- or 10-class punch card. Zoo Sanctuary Hosts Storytime Thursday
Folsom's youngest residents are invited to the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary this Thursday for a morning storytime featuring zoo puppets. Docents will introduce live zoo sanctuary outreach animals for kids to see and meet up-close. Stories begin at 10:30 a.m. on the Canid Deck; regular zoo admission fees apply.

First Friday Series: Packing Smart with Janis Jacox
Planning a trip soon?  Expert Janis Jacox will demonstrate how you can pack so efficiently that you can travel for two days, two weeks, or two months with a carry-on suitcase.  The session will be held at the Folsom Public Library on Friday, September 2 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Growl, Howl and Wine is September 17
Tickets are on sale for the annual Growl, Howl and Wine, presented by the Friends of the Folsom Zoo. The September 17 event features regional wineries, craft breweries, and local restaurants. Browse the selections and join the silent and live auction bidding for a variety of art, gift baskets, excursions, personal services, and the popular Wall of Wine. Live music by the Have Mercy band and visits with some of the Zoo Sanctuary's animal ambassadors add to the fun. (Note: this event is for ages 21+)
 
The Folsom Zoo Sanctuary provides a home for both native and exotic wild animals that have been orphaned, injured, or confiscated from unsafe and illegal situations. The Zoo Sanctuary also serves as an educational facility to teach responsible behavior toward all animals. Proceeds from the Growl, Howl and Wine event help provide the resources to feed and care for the animals and maintain the Zoo Sanctuary's outreach programs. Individual tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door; reserved tables for eight are $450. Visit www.FolsomZooFriends.org/GHW for tickets and information.
