President's Corner

Greetings, fellow Kiwanians - I want to thank Chris Wiedenfeld and Kevin Koch and their Ag Committee for helping us honor such an exceptional farm family, the Schillings with SchillingBridge Winery and Brewery. They were fun and sincere, educational and transparent about starting and growing the business.

This Friday, bring a guest and your questions for a political figure, Congressman Brad Ashford. This is always a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about our political candidates. In the meantime, have a great week. See you Friday!

LAST MEETING

2016 Farm Family of the Year Award

Pictured: Chris Weidenfeld, Kiwanis Club of Omaha Agriculture Committee, Sharon Schilling, Mike Schilling and Kelly Bletscher, SchillingBridge Winery & Microbrewery

Last Friday, we welcomed our 2016 Kiwanis Club of Omaha Farm Family of the year Mike and Sharon Schilling, along with their daughter, Kelly Bletscher. The Schillings are the owners of SchillingBridge Winery and Microbrewery in Pawnee City, Nebraska. This family operation began in 2004 as the very first farm winery and microbrewery combination in the nation. Their wines have earned numerous awards on the local and national levels. The business has continued to grow over the years and the Schillings now also own and operate SchillingBridge Cork and Tap House in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple's three children, Kelly, Dallas and John are also on staff and integral to helping make their farm business a success. Sharon shared with us Mike's successful  philosophy  of entrepreneurship, "How hard can it be?".
