A Quote for the Week
"The topic [of this week's central bank symposium in Jackson Hole] is 'designing resilient monetary policy frameworks for the future' and it would appear that SF Fed President Williams has already provided something of a rough outline to consider. If Yellen broaches the subject in similar fashion to Williams (i.e., going so far as to promote an increase in the inflation target), it is hard to see how her remarks could be construed as anything but dovish."
William Dudley, President

FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF KANSAS CITY
Speeches by prominent central bankers, finance ministers, economists and market participants at the Kansas City Fed's annual Monetary Policy Symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee's July meeting showed officials were split on whether an increase was needed soon. Fed Chair Janet  Yellen, who speaks on Friday, said in June that the central bank still has tools to support demand if needed and that in rare circumstances when "severe downside risks" exist, monetary and fiscal policy shouldn't be "working at cross purposes."
