GSN'S SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL LEARNING ADVOCACY PROGRAM REACHES 18 DISTRICTS STATE-WIDE!
Congratulations to the following districts and schools for committing resources to develop the whole child.
These schools/districts are working to remove barriers to educational success by intentionally connecting students with caring adults and community resources along with teaching critical life skills and monitoring academic performance.
- South Central BOCES: 9 Participating Districts serving 15% of student populations at highest risk in Huerfano, Aguilar, LaVeta, Hoehne, Trinidad, Primero, Branson, Cotopaxi and Custer County
- San Luis Valley BOCES: 4 Participating District Elementary Schools: Sangre de Cristo, Sierra Grande, Sargent, and South Conejos
- Primero School District: District-wide Implementation
- Pagosa Springs Elementary School
- Las Animas School District: grades 6-12
- Westgate Community School K-8
- Bennett Elementary School

BUREAU PRESIDENT HELPS BGS BECOME A ONE-TO-ONE
HIGH SCHOOL!
Christon Harris, GSN Implementation Manager, made the pitch to the Brooklyn Borough President's Office after brainstorming key needs with BGS principal, Lydia Colon Bomani. Now with the support of the Borough President, BGS is on the road to having one laptop for every student in the upcoming school year. Eric L. Adams, Brooklyn Borough President, says he hopes "the project will further enrich our borough and make a lasting impact in Brooklyn." Teachers are already thinking about how to implement the new technology into their classroom instruction now that opportunities for greater personalization are at student's fingertips!

COLORADO RURAL EDUCATION COLLABORATIVE GROWS TO
Over 1,200 educational leaders gathered in beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado the week of July 25th to engage in professional learning and networking opportunities at the 47th annual Colorado Association of School Executives annual summer conference. During the conference, members and prospective members of the Colorado Rural Education Collaborative gathered for an early-morning breakfast meeting at the Village Hotel to hear an overview of the Collaborative, accomplishments to date and details on membership. They also discussed next steps for the Collaborative network, currently serving 31 Districts, over 12,000 students, and almost 1,000 educators across the state.

Come and engage with school leaders, students, and community members through activities, professional development offered by nationally recognized PD providers, school and community tours, and face-to- face meetings to learn about rural Colorado: its lifestyle, traditions, and history. Military Careers Peak Readiness Event at Littleton High School:
On October 5th, 2016, GSN and Littleton High School will host a Military Exploration Workshop for high school students at Littleton High School and the surrounding high schools to explore a future in the armed services. Students will be excused from normal classes for the morning to hear from current and former military personnel about why they served, how to pursue a career in the different branches, and what the options are in terms of enlisting, joining ROTC, and attending a military academy. Students will also be able to participate in military mock interviews and explore fitness requirements. We are seeking current and former military members to help us make this day great!
