Retirement Reception For Karen Holp Sept. 29

You are invited to help us give General Manager Karen Holp a great send-off as she retires at the end of the month after 28 years of service to KGOU. We're holding a reception on Thursday, Sept. 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman. Please RSVP at the link below and leave your memories and well-wishes for Karen, even if you can't attend.

Karen's Legacy: Capital Campaign for Transmitter
After 28 years of guiding and growing KGOU, retiring General Manager Karen Holp has expressed a desire to add one more accomplishment to her list: a new transmitter for our Oklahoma County signal, KROU at 105.7 FM. This transmitter is now 23 years old, and nearing the end of its expected lifespan. Our hope is to replace it before any failures occur.

Typically, KGOU has funds reserved for equipment replacement expenses. However, because of lower state appropriations to higher education and resulting decreased support from our university, such a large expense -- approximately $75,000 -- is difficult at this time. We're launching a small capital campaign  through the end of the calendar year for this purpose.

We hope you'll consider contributing -- especially if you listen in Oklahoma County -- to extend Karen's legacy of leadership well into the future.

The StepCrew presents a high-energy show bringing together Irish Stepdance, Ottawa Valley Stepdance and Tap, and boasts some of the most virtuosic fiddlers and musicians from the Celtic and traditional Bluegrass music scenes.
