Sandwich Ministry Update

September 1, 2016

Dear Sandwich Ministry Makers and Servers,

Please join me in welcoming Chris Heneghan to the sandwich ministry and the coordination team! Chris will join forces with Lise Perody in the coordination of schedules.
We thank you for stepping in and meeting your commitment each time you are scheduled for the Sandwich Ministry. Some days two people are on the schedule to make sandwiches because so many are needed. We are serving many people and they count on getting sandwiches so your faithfulness makes quite a difference. Please let your coordinator (makers - Chris at [email protected]) (servers - Lise at [email protected]), and Fran at the desk ( [email protected]) as well as myself ( [email protected]) know of changes. Letting us know will allow us to keep an exact schedule at the desk so that the Tuesday evening reminder calls go to the right person.
We have the schedules online at the spsact.org website. You can access the schedule by clicking here. Additionally, there are instructions for making sandwiches. The schedule will be updated when you contact the office with any changes.
This ministry has had some recent changes - and we are all (including those receiving sandwiches) getting used to them. Please note the list below.
Sandwich Making:
  • We need a total of 5 bins of sandwiches for each day. If there are not 5 bins when you are done making sandwiches, please let the receptionist know. Likewise, if you run out of meats let them know.
  • Let the office or Chris know if you plan to make sandwiches the evening before - we can mark the schedule "PE"
  • Additional cheese is located in the silver fridge near the window and additional bread is located in the freezers in the event you run out. Bags are above or below the table, along with bins. Additional mustard is in the pantry.
  • Please use two slices of meat (ham or turkey), one slice of cheese and mustard for each sandwich.
  • Fill the "sandwich fridge" first, and then overflow goes in the silver fridge near the window.
Sandwich Serving:
  • If there are snacks on the table, plan to give them out with sandwiches.
  • Be sure to give two sandwiches to each person who comes to the door. Additional sandwiches are not available until 5:20 pm, and only when there are enough.
  • Fr, Tom is the resource for financial help. Please do not give people at the door money, let Fr. Tom do that.
  • Wednesdays are the only day that sandwich recipients can come inside, because the volunteer forces are larger and we offer something to drink, lettuce and tomato and (often) cookies.
Please continue to hold those we serve in your prayers as fall is coming and temperatures are dropping. Many thanks for your part in this essential ministry.

Peace and every good wish,
  Trudi
