Back to School Night
Wednesday
Parents are invited to join us for
Back to School Night on 8/24 at 6:30 p.m. to hear about their student's class curriculum and other important details about the classroom.
There will be two sessions for your convenience:
- 6:30 - 7:10 p.m.
- 7:20 - 8:00 p.m.
This is a parent-only event. Please let your child's teacher know if you can't attend and he/she can send the information home with your student.
Stop by the gym and sign up for volunteer opportunities and make payments if you missed the ice cream social and would rather not pay online.

Skyward Online Verification
Skyward is SMSD's parent/teacher portal for grades, health information, classroom messages and school forms. It's a secure system that enables the district to centralize information for each student.
This year, forms you would normally receive at Back to School night are on your student's
Skyward page
. Log in as you normally would, select the student you'd like to update information for and complete the following:

Step 1: Select every option, fill out completely and select the "Complete step 1a and move to step 1b" at the bottom.

Step 2: SMSD online verfication - check mark the options and select "Complete step 2b and move to 2b" at the bottom.

Step 3: Select "Complete online verification"
Note: You will need to go through this process for each student.

Chipotle Fundraiser Tuesday
Throughout the school year, Prairie partners with area restaurants to raise funds for the school. These dining out fundraisers can provide a significant boost to our school's programming.
Take the family to dinner at
Chipotle in the Village (6920 Mission Rd.) on Tuesday, 8/23 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Just present this
flyer when you order and
50% of your order total goes back to Prairie!

Prairie Pride 5K
One of Prairie's major fundraisers, the Prairie 5K and Fun Run is an event for the whole family. You can walk or run, and the whole family is welcome to participate - strollers are welcome!
It's a certified 5K race course complete with a timing chip to record your time.
If the 5K isn't your thing, join us for the one mile Fun Run just before the race begins!
There will be food and fun activities for all, whether you race or not!
This year's 5k is scheduled for
Saturday, September 24th at 8:30 a.m.
(Fun Run will begin at 8:00 a.m.).
All proceeds from this event go to the Prairie Fund, to help pay for our Reading Specialist, School Counselor and Spanish Program.

Online directory
We'll be using
MySchoolAnywhere.com
to offer the directory online this year (MySchoolAnywhere in your app store). You'll receive two separate emails:
- Email #1 - Confirm your information online via email
- Email #2 - Set up your username and password to access the directory
To get access to the directory you must join the Prairie PTA.
Highlights of the online directory:

It's Secure - your family will have a unique login and password and the directory can't be lost or stolen.

Search ability - search by student's first name, grade, teacher and family last name.

Favorites - create your own custom list of frequently called families.

Direct links - You can call, email and text from the directory or use maps to find an address.

Classroom Sign-ups - access to classroom volunteer sign ups and ability to filter what you've signed up for.

Accessibility - access the directory from any device: computer, smart phone, iPad, etc.

Printable - You can print the directory from the website if you want a hard copy.
