Special Spaces is wrapping up a wonderfully busy summer!  We worked with many great volunteers; it's truly a magical task to put a smile on a child's face.  We've added a handful of young brave soldiers to our growing family and encourage them to refer a friend battling a life threatening illness.  We continue to be surprised at how fast the word spreads about what we do.  If we focus on the mission, the rest always seems to follow.  We truly are changing children's lives one bedroom at a time.  Please feel free to contact Special Spaces if you would like to join us in this important mission.

Please note, we love sharing highlights but may not always be able to feature every single room.  To further explore special spaces, including unique room details, please visit our website at www.specialspaceswisconsin.org, and 'LIKE' our Facebook pages and visit them often.

We'd like to extend the WARMEST WELCOME to our newest Special Spaces Directors!!  Holly DeLong (Fox Valley), DeLane Crawford (Milwaukee Lake Country), and Cate Crouse (Milwaukee Lake Country).  We're grateful to expand our team with those who support our mission.  Please be sure to visit and 'LIKE' the new Special Spaces Fox Valley Facebook page.  Please Note: the Lake Country updates will be posted on the Milwaukee Special Spaces Facebook, which we hope you 'LIKE' & visit .

It's school time again! You're probably feeling excited and maybe a little sad that summer is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared on the first day of school because of all the new things: new teachers, new friends, and maybe even a new school. Luckily, these "new" worries only stick around for a little while. Your child might already know a lot of kids in their classes on the first day. But it's a great day to make a new friend, so encourage them to say hello to kids they know and also to new ones they don't know yet. They'll be glad they did and so will their new friend!

National Friendship Day was Aug. 7th.  If you haven't already, take a moment to celebrate your friends new and old;
one is silver and the other is gold!

and one of the best things you can be

7-year-old Cailinn is a cheerful child who loves sparkles, glitter, unicorns, bunnies and the colors purple and green. Her new dream bedroom is a fun-filled whimsical place where she can be nurtured, learn, play and grow.

The corporate sponsor for Cailinn's room was Synaptive Medical.  Their volunteers visited from Chicago and Toronto to help with Cailinn's room makeover!  We're blessed to work with people who are willing to go the extra mile(s) to help make a child's dreams a reality.  Visit www.synaptivemedical.com  to learn more about the amazing work this company does.  Thanks again to Team Cailinn!!

Our Special Spaces team had a great time collaborating with Make-A-Wish Wisconsin on Charlie's dream bedroom makeover! Charlie choose a Star Wars theme which provided a galaxy of inspiration. Ken and Judy from Crayons Gone Wild Murals did an amazing job turning Charlie's room into the main deck of the Millennium Falcon complete with Chewbacca and BB-8 on board. Charlie will enjoy endless play and study time at his new desk. We were delighted to help Make-A-Wish Wisconsin grant Charlie's wish and hope to work with them on more wishes in the future. :)

Thanks again to Team Charlie and Make-A-Wish Wisconsin!!

Green Bay Special Spaces has made this summer extra special for many kids. Luke, like many teens his age, is an avid basketball fan. His team expanded this theme to every corner of his room while adding small details throughout to create a very inspiring bedroom.

A very special thanks goes out to all of the volunteers for Luke's bedroom makeover. Two things that made this group so impressive: the teens worked just as hard, if not harder than the adults, and their dedication was appreciated. One of the teen volunteers Claire was a recipient of Special Spaces last year, so she was paying-it-forward to another teen this year! To ALL of the volunteers: we couldn't have completed this room without your help, THANK YOU!!!
