Venture HS and Newcomer Center settle into new home

"It's like an arranged marriage, but it's working out well."
 
That's how Venture High School Principal Beverley McReynolds described what it's like sharing a campus with Newcomer Center. Both schools, Venture and Newcomer, moved to Ferguson Education Center last summer, after the 2014-2015 school year.

INNOVATION
Technology takes Martin High School world geography classes to a new level

"The students like it because I'm not always talking at them," said Martin High School world geography teacher Sarah Spurrier about the Chromebooks her students use in her classes. "It puts learning in their hands."  
Thanks to a Transformation Through Innovation (TI) grant, all world geography teachers at Martin High School now have access to carts of Chromebooks for their students.

Facilities Update
Bond-related construction is in full-swing at multiple locations throughout the district. And this fall, construction will begin at many more campuses.

Major renovations underway at Jones Academy, near completion at Corey Academy
Fine Arts Update
Corey and Jones Academies of Fine Arts and Dual Language began their second school year on Aug. 22, 2016, in the same buildings they were in last year - but now they look totally different.

Both school buildings are receiving extensive renovations, funded by the 2014 Bond program, to enhance the fine arts and dual language programming the new academies offer.

Bond 2014 money is helping transform the AISD technologically, dramatically increasing access to technology for students and teachers throughout the district.

AISD receives 23 new school buses
Transportation
The AISD transportation department has received 23 new buses this year, paid for by the 2014 Bond program.
 
The 23 buses, 10 propane and 13 diesel, represent Phase II of the Bond program for transportation.
