43rd Ward Office Closed for Labor Day
Dear Neighbor,

The 19th District of the Chicago Police Department has put out a Community Alert regarding robberies on August 29th.  One of the incidents was in the 43rd Ward.

Two African American men, approximately 15-20 years of age, surrounded, grabbed or placed the victim in a headlock, displayed a knife and took cellphones, credit cards or currency. The offenders then ran to a waiting black Nissan or Honda hatchback vehicle and fled with the driver, a third African American male offender.

The robberies all took place on August 29th:

* 1900 block of North Wood 3:45 P.M.

* 2500 block of North Greenview at 3:58 P.M.

* 2700 block of North Mildred 4:15 P.M.

* 3000 block of North Greenview 4:50 P.M.

* 3000 block of North Ravenswood 4:50 P.M.

* 3700 block of North Greenview at 5:01 P.M.

The 19th District has increased both marked and undercover patrols in the area. If you have any video or other information, please contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.

Please take extra precautions by locking your doors, windows and cars and remember to always be aware of your surroundings. We are the eyes of the neighborhood, so if you see something suspicious dial 9-1-1 immediately.

Cumming Park Playlot Designs

Last Tuesday, I hosted a public meeting with the Chicago Park District and the Francis Parker Neighbors concerning improvements to Cummings Playground located on Lincoln Park West between Dickens Street and Webster Place.

This is the latest playground funding we've secured under the Chicago Park District's "Chicago Plays!" program. In both plans, the existing sculptures will remain in place and wood chips and sand will be replaced.

Please tell us which design you prefer by emailing  [email protected] by  Thursday, September 8th .
