attEvening Construction and Traffic Detours
Beginning Monday, August 8

AT&T and its contractor, Irish Construction, will be performing emergency work of their underground communication system along westbound direction of Broadway, between California Drive and Rollins Road.
 
Work will begin this Monday evening, August 8, 2016, from  9:00 p.m - 5:00 a.m.  The work is anticipated to last five weeks, Sunday - Thursday nights, from 9:00 p.m - 5:00 a.m.  Daytime traffic should not be affected.
 
During construction hours, there will be a reduction in travel lanes and detour for westbound Broadway, as well as at the intersections of California Drive and intersection of Rollins Road. Council adopts resolution to place initiative on November 8 ballot

At its August 1, 2016 meeting, the Burlingame City Council adopted a resolution placing the proposed "Rent Stabilization" initiative on the November 8, 2016 Presidential General Election ballot.  Click on this link to read the initiative, City Council's resolution placing the initiative on the November 8, 2016 ballot and instructions on how to submit arguments in support of, or in opposition to, the initiative.
marijuana Public Opinion Survey on Marijuana

With the potential for the legalization of marijuana, which will be on the ballot in November, the San Mateo County Health System wants to know what the local communities of San Mateo County think about issues related to marijuana and its use.  This information will help the County Health System plan for future public health efforts.

Everything is under $3!

Did you know you can purchase books at the library bookstore located next to the cafe at the main branch of the library? Operated by the Library Foundation, all proceeds directly benefit the Burlingame libraries. Adult fiction, children's picture books, young adult, biographies, travel, history, finance, health, self-help, the arts, cookbooks, cd's, dvd's, and audiobooks are just some of what's available. Everything is under three dollars.
 
Also, your book, dvd, and cd donations are always welcome. Just bring them to the information desk at the entrance to the library. Large donations may also be scheduled for pick-up.

avenueBurlingame On The Avenue Event
Free festival to showcase new features and expanded entertainment this year

The Peninsula's premiere summer arts and entertainment festival is returning to Burlingame Avenue on August 20-21. Burlingame On the Avenue will fill the streets of downtown Burlingame with hundreds of unique artisans displaying hand-crafted products, delicious foods and beverages, and exciting performances.

Burlingame On the Avenue is proud to once again offer three entertainment stages throughout the festival which boast a variety of unique musical and dance performances. The expanded, interactive Children's Playland area will be open to children of all ages, offering family friendly rides, carnival style games and much more.

POW! Super Heroes to Invade Washington Park
TONIGHT, August 4 at 7:00 p.m.
Washington Park

Batman, The Hulk, Spiderman, Aquaman, Storm, Wonder Woman, Hawkeye and many more super heroes will be in Burlingame's Washington Park on August 4th, 2016 at 7pm.
The Burlingame Parks & Recreation Department's community theatre troupe "Acting Out & About" will be presenting a hilarious one-act of "Super Heroes". The Super Heroes are lamenting that "with great power comes ordinary responsibility".  
Join Jeff Cleary (Hawkeye), Angelo Ricci (Batman/Hulk), Michelle De Barrionuevo (Storm), Kate Linenbach (Wonder Woman) Kevin O'Brien (Aquaman) Alida Hinton, Linda Milliken, Kiki Arnaudo, and Lesley Brush in enjoying this witty and comical evening.

Fall 2016 Art Labs at the Peninsula Museum of Art

Leonardo's StudioTM, is a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) based art program for children at the Peninsula Museum of Art.  As "art scientists" children learn while exploring the creative process through inquiry and experimentation.
