    A note from...
Thoughts from a Rum River Family:

"One of our first experiences at Rum River was all the help that people gave us.  Whenever we had that confused look on our faces (which was often),  someone was always there asking us if they could help.  I try to watch for that confused look on "newbies" faces now, to pay it forward. I remember how much we appreciated it and it was truly one of the things we noticed immediately about the sport.  We knew if we didn't understand something we could find someone to help.

I also very clearly remember how many parents would walk up and fix something on our bikes - often times the parents of riders our son raced.

We now know that these types of things are what make our sport stand out and make it one of the most amazing experiences.

    Way to go BMX families!"

    Jennifer Gruba

    Thoughts from TO Kevin Riedemann:
    TO's Note -

The sport of BMX is like a lot of things in life...  It can bring you thrills, excitement, sadness and sorrow, depending on the day and the time.  I have been involved in BMX for about 14 years and I have had an incredible amount of great moments, laughs, and excitement.  At the same time I have been through moments that I would not wish upon anyone.  That's how life goes... and that's why we say this sport teaches us life lessons.  The sport is about learning new skills, finding ways to be motivated, adapting to change.  You will overcome adversity. You will become stronger.  You will grow both physically and mentally in your quest called BMX.

We are entering the last quarter of 2016 and as the MN State series finals (on Aug. 27 and 28 th  ) brings a closure to the huge summer run of racing at the many tracks,  remember it's not all about "winning".  It's about holding your head high and knowing you're getting better.

So when the dust settles Sunday afternoon, whether you have reached your goal, won it all or if you just had a bad day and came up short- one race will not define who you are... You define who you are and don't let anyone bring you down.  Pick your self-up and follow your heart and dreams.  After all, that is exactly what life is all about.

    Kevin Riedemann

Words of Wisdom from Elliot McGrath:
The 2016 Minnesota State Series is about to come to an end. It's time to look back on the season and see what you did well and where you could improve. State plate or not, always make sure to look at where you improved over the season and see that as a success in itself.

After a big race it's good to take a little time off of training and let your body rest and recharge for the next goals that you set. During your short break set new goals and make a new plan to be faster and more prepared for your next big race.

    See ya at the Finals!
    Elliot
