Message from Fr. David
After services on August 21st Debbie and I will be taking some time away to enjoy God's creation as we meander to Glacier National Park. We have not had some time together to be away from our daily routines since before I began seminary school back in 2009. I ask your prayers for our journey, knowing that we'll be coming back with some interesting stories and different perspectives on life. We will return on September 3rd in time for services on the 4th.
Fr. Jerry Kolb will be our celebrant on August 28th, and he is looking forward to visiting with all of you. I know you will greet him warmly and please thank him for filling in for me. We are blessed to have access to such wonderful spiritual leaders and priests that grace us with their presence and celebration.
Please keep abreast of the newsletters, church calendar, webpage and face book to be informed of several programs starting up in September and through the fall months. We will hold an inquirer's class session on September 11, for any and all who wish to know more about our faith as Christians and especially as Episcopalians. This meeting will help me decide the times and days to present the classes. We will also begin some forums in the fall that will allow some guests, who will provide some insights in Christian topics of the day. So stayed tuned into the various message tools to let you know what is going on.

All that is known of him with certainty is that he is mentioned in the synoptic gospels and
Acts
as one of the twelve apostles. His name, a patronymic, means "son of Tolomai" and scholars believe he is the same as
Nathanael
mentioned in John, who says he is from
Cana
and that
Jesus
called him an "Israelite...incapable of deceit."
The Roman
Martyrology
says he preached in
India
and Greater Armenia, where he was flayed and beheaded by King Astyages. Tradition has the place as Abanopolis on the west coast of the Caspian Sea and that he also preached in Mesopotamia, Persia, and Egypt. The Gospel of
Bartholomew
is apochryphal and was condemned in the
decree
of Pseudo-Gelasius.
