Director's Letter

The BTER Foundation is preparing to submit a grant proposal in support of research funding, and we need YOUR help. The topic is Ichthyotherapy: the use of Gara rufa (commonly known as the "Doctor Fish") to treat skin disease. We are about to embark on a journey to test the therapeutic efficacy of this little fish for treating psoriasis, and we are looking for dermatologists and other psoriasis experts who would like to collaborate with us.
If you are a dermatologist, or if you know a dermatologist, or if you know someone with psoriasis who has a dermatologist . . . let those dermatologists know that they can join us as investigators or as consultants, or they can simply refer their toughest patients to our study team. For more information about the study, contact us at: [email protected]. In order to budget accordingly, if you want to be on the study team (researchers, statisticians, consultants, therapists), you will need to contact us before we submit the grant proposal. So call or write straight away.
With best wishes,
Ron Sherman

Dr. Sagiv Ben-Yakir |
Dr. Sagiv Ben-Yakir is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) and divides his time between lecturing internationally, teaching at The Wingate Academic College, Israel, and research and clinical work

Q: What made you interested in serving as a BTER Foundation board member?
A: BTER is an organization that is an advocate in the promotion of education, responsible research, and the integration of biotherapeutic into mainstream medicine to create and maintain optimal health. As a veterinarian acting on BTER's board, I will be able to promote the same missions and targets in the international veterinary community.
Q: What is your specialty within biotherapy?
A: I specialize in medical leeches, bee venom therapy, horse riding therapy (hippotherapy) and animal-assisted therapy.
Q: What drew you to biotherapy?
A: Biotherapy allows me to expand my abilities in the creation and maintenance of optimal health in animals. Also, my background in Biology (B.Sc in Biology as well as a researcher in Biology) gives me a better grasp on issues within biotherapy.
Q: How can we improve patient care and therapist support within biotherapy?
A: By doing a good solid theoretical and practical education based on a responsible up-to-date research.
Q: What is your favorite thing about the BTER Foundation?
A: My favorite thing about the BTER Foundation is the self-responsibility and self-commitment of the Foundation's team members in the Biotherapy field.

Sponsored Memberships - Take Advantage Now!
|
|
**Hurry, just a few sponsored memberships left**
The BTER Foundation has long had a program whereby one member could "sponsor" another member by paying their membership dues. This was particularly advantageous when we could find a sponsor to support those international members who did not have the funds for membership in an American professional society. Thanks to the generosity of one of our members, 20 sponsored memberships were made available to the first 20 applicants. The memberships are valid for 6 months (through the end of 2016), and include all of the normal benefits except gift store discounts, which are reserved for sponsors and paying members. The purpose of this group of sponsored memberships is to introduce the rewards of membership to anyone who has considered joining the BTER Foundation but not yet made the commitment.
If you have been waiting to join, or if you are wondering whether it is worth joining . . . this is your opportunity to get in free for 6 months. Learn more about the
benefits of BTER Foundation membership on our
membership page
. Remember: only a few spots remain, to be disbursed on a first-come basis. If you would like to take advantage of sponsored membership, please notify us straight away at
[email protected]
