Compensation Updates and New DPS/DCTA Agreement

We want to share exciting news about this week's ProComp agreement between DPS and DCTA and follow up on the announcement made in June by DPS and DCTA regarding updates to the teacher compensation system. This includes an overview of both the changes being made and, for returning teachers, the timing of when to expect incentive payments.

Please note that the most noticeable changes relate to the incentive payments of Exceeds Expectations, Top Performing and High Growth. Other changes include:

Potential base salary increase for all 2016-17 teachers and SSPs:
  • Denver's Commitment to Teachers: DPS Teacher Salary Market Adjustment - If DPS' proposed mill levy passes in November, teachers and SSPs would receive a 1.1% base-building increase and 1.1% increase for all ProComp elements (except for tuition reimbursement), representing a small recognition for the commitment our teachers show daily to their students and the commitment DPS, DCTA and the Denver community have for our educators. DPS would retroactively pay, from the start of the 2016-17 school year to Dec. 31, 2016, a lump sum on Dec. 31 and begin regular monthly payments in January 2017.
Increases to your base salary based on activities from last school year:
  • SLO Incentive - Similar to prior years with the SLO/SGO (Student Learning/Growth Objective) incentive, a $398.51 base-building increase will be provided to teachers and Specialized Service Providers (SSPs) who successfully participated in the SLO process during the 2015-16 school year. All eligible recipients will see this increase in their Sept. 30 paycheck.
DPS/DCTA agreement on base-building incentives earned in 2016-17, paid in 2017-18

DPS and DCTA this week reached agreement on how teachers and SSPs can earn the ProComp incentives for the Professional Evaluation component (formerly called the CPE incentive) and for the Student Learning Objectives. In response to the clear directive from our teachers and SSPs to simplify ProComp, these two incentives will be combined into one doubled incentive.
