Diane Sawyer Receives Produce from Camden's Urban Promise Garden
Thanks to a Department of Health mini grant to NJPHK-Camden, Urban Promise students built a community garden, piloted a Farm-to-School program and recently shared their harvest with their good friend and supporter, Diane Sawyer, former anchor of ABC World News.

Building Healthy-Equitable Communities Conference-December 3rd
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, December 3rd for the "Building Healthy-Equitable Communities" Conference at the Pine Manor in Edison New Jersey.
More than 300 people from across New Jersey, including: educators, health professionals, community leaders and parents are expected to attend the conference.
As part of the event, a Community Equities town hall will be moderated by Mike Schneider, anchor and managing editor of New Jersey public television's NJTV News program. This year's keynote speaker will be Dr. William H. Dietz, Director of the Sumner Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness, George Washington University who will discuss the Myths and Misconceptions of Obesity. Also, individuals from various communities will be honored as "Healthy Kids Champions." Afternoon workshops will include the following topics: Advocacy, Community-based Strategies, Prevention and Community Engagement, Equity in Health, Healthcare and Community Prevention and Obesity Prevention. Registration opens in early October.
