Welcome to Conspirare's 16-17 season of singing!

 

This is an exciting, important time at Conspirare. As we are nearing a quarter century of making music in Austin and sharing it throughout the world, the opening phrase in our mission statement fuels us even more strongly today than when it first called to us: "Inspired by the power of music to change lives."

 

We believe in the power of music to transform, to inspire and to awaken us. 

 

Over and over again, we have witnessed the ways in which music breaks down walls, connects us and enlarges our world. Music can be a conduit for laughter and joy and it can give voice to the voiceless. The beauty of voices can bring calm and comfort and their power often finds a way to pierce and enliven us.

 

We sing with the conviction that music matters profoundly in our lives and in our community. With you and our entire circle of deep-listening friends, we have come to experience this art form of human voices expressing a shared vision--a vision that encourages us to remember all the ways in which we are profoundly connected and calls us to explore and rediscover what we love about being alive together.  

 

Whether it is through the music of the established masters, the bold new work of a budding young composer or the sounds of brave musicians creating on the spot in a fresh new improvisation, I dedicate myself, along with the Conspirare artists, to creating vibrant and soul-stirring concert experiences.

 

We are delighted to have a number of opportunities in the coming months for you to hear Conspirare in a variety of settings and formats. We will be sending you details about all of our performances later this week along with a special discount. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, September 2 at noon. Our gala "Hidden Music" promises to be an extra special night of mystery and fun, with a cameo performance by my friend and Austin Symphony Artistic Director Peter Bay. You will be receiving an official "Save the Date," but I wanted to let you know right away to put a hold on your calendars for April 25, 2017.   

 

And of course, we are bursting with pride and delight at the extraordinary work of the Conspirare Youth Choirs led so brilliantly by Nina Revering. Nina and her team are inspiring a generation of young singers to experience the life-changing gift of music.   

 

Finally, we want YOU to sing with us. A Conspirare Big Sing is our chance to make sounds together and we love every chance we get to come together and "announce our existence" together as the splendid Bernice Johnson Reagan once said. These Big Sings have become joyous happenings. I hope you, along with your family and friends, will join us.  

 

We passionately want you to be a part of this singing season with us. It is our great joy and privilege to sing for and with you.
