Gregory the Grateful Goat

One day, while his owner, Mike, was cooking in the kitchen, Gregory the baby goat managed to unlock the front door and sneak out to graze in the front yard. His curiosity got the better of him, and as he headed down the road in search of more tasty greenery, he was accidentally hit by a neighbor's car.

Mike ran outside to find Gregory's rear left leg completely mangled after getting stuck underneath the car's tire. He rushed Gregory to a shelter, only to find that the cost to fix his leg was overwhelming. "I am already barely surviving on minimum wage," says Mike. "I felt hopeless because the surgery cost was so out of my league, and I don't have friends or family who could help me."

A Perfect Day at Puttin' for PetAid

Former Denver Nuggets coach, George Karl (second from right), welcomes Jim Humphrey (center) and his team (Derrick Fliedner, Ben Kemper, and Steven White) from Pet Cremation Services, the 2016 tournament sponsor.

The weather couldn't have been better on Friday, August 12, when PetAid hosted its annual golf tournament at Park Hill Golf Club.
Seventy-two participants came to support us while enjoying some much-needed fun in the sun, and to compete for the coveted first prize spot and trophy.

Former Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl made an appearance prior to registration, and fans were thrilled to have the opportunity to chat and take photos with the legendary coach.

A Charitable Choice: PetAid in Your Estate Plans
Personal representatives from the Ruth Wathen estate, Ron and Karen Gibbons, present the charitable donation to PetAid Board President, Meg Armstrong (right).
PetAid was deeply honored last month to receive a donation from the estate of Ruth Wathen and her late husband, Al. Ruth and Al wanted to leave their money to an organization that would help animals.

Pet owners themselves, they dearly loved their rescue dogs, a Great Dane and a German Shepherd who loved to ride in the back of their convertible with the top down. Neither Ruth nor Al wanted a grave site or marker, and their donation has been recognized as their lasting legacy in providing the care, comfort, and protection that all animals deserve to receive.
