Dates to Remember
Hello SAPMS Families!

The year is off to a great start. Thank you to all the families for contributing time and effort over the Summer to ready our campus in time for the first day of school. Drop off and pick up is going well! Thank you for helping to keep the traffic down by arriving at your student's specified arrival and departure time.

All classes have enjoyed eating outdoors and having the large yard to run and play.

Folders were sent home with your children on Wednesday that include several documents that will need your attention. Please send these forms back as soon as possible - in the folder.

As we adjust to these first few weeks of school, please be respectful of our teachers and their efforts to observe and learn your children so they may best education them this year. Please also be mindful that we educate the whole child here at SAPMS. Sometimes you may not be able to see educational progress with your child - it is often these times when your child is further developing emotionally, socially or deepening a concept instead of developing new ones. All of the growth and learning will come, often in large surprising spurts! You will receive a call within the first 4 weeks to let you know how your child is adjusting. This is a great opportunity to address any concerns, provide feedback and ask questions.

As always, if you ever need anything, have a question or concern or want to volunteer - let us know. We are here for you!

Have a beautiful week!
Jamie

Each week you will see helpful info to guide you in deepening your understanding of Montessori education through Q & A. Have a question you'd like answered? Let us know and chances are, you're not the only parent with the same question.

How can Montessori teachers meet the needs
of so many different children?

Great teachers help learners get to the point where their minds and hearts are open, leaving them ready to learn. In effective schools, students are not so much motivated by getting good grades as they are by a basic love of learning. As parents know their own children's learning styles and temperaments, teachers, too, develop this sense of each child's uniqueness by spending a number of years with the students and their parents.

Dr. Montessori believed that teachers should focus on the child as a person, not on the daily lesson plan. Montessori teachers lead children to ask questions, think for themselves, explore, investigate, and discover. Their ultimate objective is to help their students to learn independently and retain the curiosity, creativity, and intelligence with which they were born. As we said in an earlier chapter, Montessori teachers don't simply present lessons; they are facilitators, mentors, coaches, and guides.
