BRUTAL CALIFORNIA FIRE SEASON IS REALLY GETTING UNDERWAY
THE WEATHER CHANNEL, 8/29/2016
It has been a brutal fire season already in California, with hundreds of homes destroyed and hundreds of thousands of acres scorched but history would indicate that the season is really only getting underway and the worst may be yet to come.
According to
an incident management report released Monday
by the National Interagency Fire Center, 5,375 wildland fires have been reported in California so far this year. These include fires under Cal Fires jurisdiction, which is responsible for fires in populated areas, as well as other state and federal fire agencies.

CAL FIRE: DUI DRIVER CAUSED CALAVERAS COUNTY WILDFIRE
KCRA, 8/29/2016
A woman who was arrested for driving under the influence also faces additional charges in connection with sparking a wildfire in Calaveras County that prompted evacuations Sunday.
The fire was reported just after 1 p.m. east of San Andreas after California Highway Patrol officers were investigating a report of a woman driving up Mountain Ranch Road as her car was emitting sparks, officials said.

SOBERANES FIRE GROWS TO MORE THAN 93,000 ACRES

The Soberanes Fire grew to 93,245 acres Tuesday and remains at 60 percent containment, Cal Fire said.
The wildfire grew by 931 acres overnight, with most of the activity in the interior of the fire area, and did not threaten any lines.
