SECRET SERVICE, OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY SEIZE SURRATT HOUSE - FOR A DAY
DHS officials spend afternoon learning Surratt House history, infamous connection to Lincoln assassination...
When the US Secret Service and Dept. of Homeland Security come knocking at your door, it can be a very good day ("the POTUS will be joining us...") or a very bad day ("we have reason to believe...").

For M-NCPPC's Surratt House Museum in Clinton, it proved to be a very good day.

Last month, high-ranking Dept. of Homeland Security officials participated in a field trip to Surratt House Museum. After months of behind-the-scenes planning, w hat was originally suggested by DHS as a simple training exercise - or brief visit, turned into a fascinating 5-hour experience for Homeland Security officials.

Imagine the scene as an official caravan pulls into the driveway consisting of Secret Service agents, Prince George's County and Charles County police and sheriff units, and a bus filled with 53 Homeland Security officials. And, leading the charge - the Security of Homeland Security himself, Jeh Johnson.

As they do with all their guest, Team Surratt House (led on this occasion by Lindsey Horn in 1860's period garb) illustrated Surratt's fascinating story and unique connection to 1865 events that would change a nation. The group also participated in an abbreviated version of Surratt's popular all-day narrated John Wilkes Booth Escape Route Tour (that follows the trail of Lincoln assassin, John Wilkes Booth, from Fords Theater in DC, thru Maryland and Virginia).
"FIREBALL" UNLEASHED AT SIX FLAGS AMERICA JUST IN TIME FOR SUMMER
Theme park's newest ride, and 10th coaster, spins riders 360 degrees in the air...
Six Flags America's newest thrill ride, the Bourbon Street Fireball, is now open and spinning coaster fans into a frenzy. It's an amazing seven-story tall looping steel roller coaster and it is unlike anything in the park.

Riders will experience a pendulum-style take off before hanging suspended upside-down 70 feet off the ground. After a moment of being completely inverted in space, riders race through a series of full 360 loops changing direction halfway through the ride.

The Bourbon Street Fireball is the 10th world-class coaster at Six Flags America - the only theme park in the Washington DC/Baltimore metroplex.  Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor Water Park are open daily thru August.
