Hallett Cove Business Association -
Local is the New Black Campaign
The City of Marion of Marion recently provided Hallett Cove Business Association with a $2000 community grant to support to their new initiative
Local is the New Black. The initiative was launched on 28 July at the joint first year celebration of the
Cove Enterprise Hub and the
Hallett Cove Business Association. More than 75 people attended the event which clearly demonstrated the enthusiasm for local networking.
"The reason why the association was launched the
Local is the New Black campaign is that
there are over 4700 local businesses registered in the Hallett Cove/Sheidow Park / Trott Park areas. So this campaign is a call to action,"
Marie Soliman Chairperson of the Hallett Cove Business Association said.
"Shopping locally for goods and services keeps the local economy and community flourishing. It keeps dollars in the community - to be spent in the community. It keeps shops and services open, promotes employment and it helps local people feel connected".
For more information about the campaign visit the
association's website

In 50 fascinating bite-sized tips this book will have you completely re-evaluating the way in which you market your business and sell yourself. The Local Economy Solution suggests an alternative approach in which states and cities nurture a new generation of enterprises that help local businesses launch and grow. These cutting-edge companies, which Shuman calls "pollinator businesses," are creating jobs and the conditions for future economic growth, and doing so in self-financing ways. Pollinator businesses are especially important to communities that are struggling to lift themselves up in a period of economic austerity. The book details case studies of successful pollinator businesses that are creatively facilitating business and neighbourhood improvements, entrepreneurship, local purchasing, local investing, and profitable business partnerships.
