August 18, 2016

The first day of the 2016-17 school year has arrived and, with it, some inspiring changes. The excitement on campus is noticeable as Roger Glass Stadium - Home of the CJ Eagles - will fill its stands tonight for the first time for the much-anticipated Meet the Eagles night. The dedication and the blessing of the stadium will take place at this event. New parents are invited to a welcome social at 6:00 p.m.

With all of the excitement surrounding the opening of the stadium and Eagle Field, the athletic teams and Eagle Pride band aren't the only ones christening a new facility this year. Musicians, singers and the entire CJ performing arts community will soon take the stage in our renovated auditorium which will be ready for our first performance later this fall.

While the progression of renovations and additions have revitalized our school and campus over recent years, our mission remains the same. We are an educational community of faith, inspired by the goodness of God and committed to educating the whole person, working for justice and developing family spirit.

We are looking forward to a very exciting school year at CJ and we are happy to have the support of parents, like you, to make this year a success.

God Bless, and Go Eagles!

GUIDANCE OFFICE

Office staffing
The CJ Guidance Office will have a new face through the month of September. Jama Badinghaus is currently out of the office on parental leave and plans to return at the end of September. We have arranged for Stephanie Alim as a long-term substitute guidance counselor for this time period.  Mrs. Alim has a master's degree and license in school counseling and is excited to assist the guidance team in this manner.  A.J. Grimm will be working for three days a week and arrangements are in place for Charlene Wheeler, CJ's post secondary counselor and guidance department chair, to be available for students and parents should they need assistance when Mrs. Grimm is not in the office.

Class of 2017
Letter of Recommendation Update
Requests through Family Connection/Naviance will not be up and running until early September. The system will update, but there is no exact date as of yet. The new directions will be emailed to all seniors as soon as the information is available. Students will not be able to request letters until the new version is released. Previously submitted requests made through Family Connection will no longer appear.  If a teacher already uploaded a letter of recommendation to Family Connection, it should be in the system.

Class of 2017
Common App Update and College Applications
The Common App is  back up and running as of August 1. Also, if your student applies to a  college that allows self-reporting, please be aware that we will not send their transcript unless you or your student make an official request through the guidance office.

Student Activity Passes for 2016-2017
Student activity passes will be available for purchase from the athletic office beginning the first day of school.  Activity passes will again be $60. The pass allows entry into every home sporting event throughout the entire school year (except home football games) and all performing arts events, including the fall play and spring musical. Students will be able to purchase tickets to home football games for $4 each during lunch periods the week prior to the game. To encourage students to cheer for the football team when the Eagles are on the road, student activity passes include one student ticket for games against our league opponents (Fenwick -  September 16 ; Roger Bacon -  October 7 ; Badin -  October 22 ; and Alter -  October 28 ).
