Support Grows for Legislation Reforming Overtime Rule
Support is growing for the Overtime Reform and Enhancement Act (H.R. 5813), which would phase-in the increase of the Department of Labor's (DOL) Overtime Rule over three years and eliminate the automatic increase. Over 40 trade associations, including NLBMDA, have expressed their support for the legislation. As part of the legislation, the rule would incrementally phase in the new threshold over the next three years, beginning with a 50 percent increase this December and 25 percent increases at the start of 2018 and 2019. Given the impact of the rule, dealers should
contact their representative in support of H.R. 5813.

BMSA Wins the GOLD!
First and foremost BMSA would like to thank everyone who attended, sponsored & contributed to the success of this year's conference. Without participation from dedicated members it would not have been possible! This year's theme was "Champions By Design" and BMSA certainly came out on top as a champion! The Summer Conference consisted of installing new leaders, guests participating in new Friday fun activities like Topgolf and bike riding, to golfers beating the heat in the annual golf tournament and members listening to excellent industry education on a variety of topics. One of the most memorable moments at the 2016 Summer Conference was honoring Cindy Hartley, VP of BMSA, for the 43 years she has planned the Summer Conference. Thank you Cindy! Builder Confidence Rises in August
Builder Confidence in the market for newly constructed single-family homes in August rose two points to 60 from a downwardly revised reading of 58 in July on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI). Builder confidence remains solid in the aftermath of weak GDP reports that were offset by positive job growth in July. Historically low mortgage rates, increased household formations and a firming labor market will help keep housing on an upward path during the rest of the year.
