If you can, we encourage you to support and enhance your profession by contributing to the on-line BGANZ magazine, THE BOTANIC GARDENer.
The November issue is themed AMAZING Interpretation and addresses the most important and challenging function performed by cultural institutions: creating meaningful and emotional connections with visitors.
Share your innovations, aspirations or frustrations with your colleagues by addressing these curly questions:
- What are you doing at your garden to ensure visitors make meaningful connections with your plant collections?
- Are you providing visitors to your gardens with a memorable experience... and how can you tell?
- What makes your garden outstanding in the field?

- Take this opportunity to showcase your best practice examples of face-to-face interpretation, signage, public programs and interactive exhibitions.

Fundraising is a fundamental activity of botanic gardens and other museums to which there can be a variety of methods and strategies. If you are looking for ways to strengthen your approach to fundraising for community projects, then join Sharon and Nic who will offer their knowledge and experience on the topic during this 1 hour and 20 minute webinar.
With cautionary tales, case studies, guidance about where to look for funding and how to find partners, along with Q&As to give you personalised advice, this webinar offers a great opportunity to give your fundraising activities a boost.
For the past 15 years, Nic Capp has been working to raise funds to support and empower people from less privileged backgrounds and for the last four and half years he has been leading the fundraising team at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria.
Sharon Willoughby manages Public Programs at the garden which has included the development of a team dedicated to socially inclusive partnerships.
