Sellew Belle Glade Excel Charter School Receives Grant  
 
TMS obtained a grant valued at up to $500,000 for the Sellew Belle Glade Excel  Charter  School,  a  school  wide  Title  I  charter  school. This  grant  will provide  a  21st  Century  afterschool and  summer  program for 105 at risk  K-5th graders.

Full-time Year-Long Interns Available for Palm Beach County Nonprofits
 
A new program of the United Methodist Church is offering full-time year-long interns to nonprofits in Palm Beach County starting September 1 through the beginning of August next year. The nonprofit must provide; -a job description to cover 35 to 40 hours per week -A designated supervisor and weekly check in meetings from each will be back between intern in organization -The nonprofit contributes $14,000 over the year -Open communication with the program's director -The United Methodist Church program provides the interns, all HR, personal stipend, housing, utilities, groceries, transportation expenses, three retreats during the year, monthly house visits and occasional book studies.
-The nonprofit is free to hire an intern after the year is over
The Methodist program is planning on to two house locations; one near Lake Okeechobee between Canal Point and Belle Glade and the other East of the turnpike between Lake Worth and Boynton Beach.
Currently there are six candidates interested in internship positions. These are hard-working, "change the world" kinds of young adults with varying skills and abilities.

4th Annual Community Spirit Awards Luncheon

The membership of the Nonprofit Chamber sought an avenue to recognize those who have gone above and beyond for the nonprofit community in Palm Beach County over the years. Four years ago, this luncheon was created to do just that. We are heartened by the number of people in Palm Beah County who are so committed to ensuring those who need our help to overcome adversity, become self-sufficient, and reach their full potentials receive it. Palm Beach Victims' Rights Coalition~National Day of Remembrance
 
In 2007 the U.S. Congress designated September 25 as the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims.  Remembrance events have long been a part of the National Crime Victims' Rights Movement. This year, Florida CHAIN will be hosting its second annual conference, Moving Forward Together: Advancing Health Care for Those Left Behind. It's an opportunity to join national experts, advocates, consumers, health care providers, policy makers, and other stakeholders to learn about pressing health policy topics, acquire new skills, and network with other participants dedicated to improving the health of all Floridians. NLAP Newsletter:  Federal Labor Law Posting Update Effective August 1, 2016

Effective August 1, 2016, employers must post new Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) postings. The Department of Labor (DOL) has removed penalty amounts from the posters and has added a section about the rights of nursing mothers to the FLSA poster. Employers are required to post the revised versions of these federal posters.
